Well, she could have called her oba-san if it was her aunt, but then she looks young enough (in her late 20s?) and oba-san invokes a much older lady an it'd be a bit impolite.

I personally think she's from the uncle's circle (music lovers hanging out in the same live houses) and he brought Mitsuki there when she was little, so she knows her. That she and the uncle were a thing is still speculation. But at least, we knows she's been living abroad and just (recently?) returned.

I'd love to see more about Joe's backstory. We now got a brief glimpse from Kanna about his past life choices. Maybe this topic about going overseas will be a bigger part of the story, as it now may seem. I'm eager to see how the story will further develop :)

It's probably just about the family/uncle's background, but hopefully no "going overseas for some years timeskip" sorta ending. It's been done ... a few times too often ^^;

“ロマンスじゃない愛情” I saw this and don't know why it sounds so cute hahaha it says something like "it's not romance, is love; maybe in the context asking about the manga like an all or the specify about aya and koga? Either way I like the idea of a manga not about "romance" but "love", I know it's taken mostly like a two things that go together, but I like that idea of "love" more than romance, it's sound more sweet? raw maybe? I don't know but just wanted to write about that hahaha

Using Google translate to get the romanji says "Romansu janai aijō". While I don't know what connotation the English loan word "romance" has in a Japanese context I know that word it's contrasted with there, "ai," is a pretty serious and unambiguous romantic love. Not a word you'd use for friends with subtext lol.

It means something more like "Affection without romance" or "unromantic affection"

In Japanese, "romance" is often used in the sense of having emotionally charged and unrealistically optimistic ideals about something

Therefore this phrase could mean that the affection is grounded and realistic, though I haven't read the interview and can't say for sure

I like the replies because Im learning some things, plus it incentivated me to search more of the words for "love" in japanese~

But yes, I want to clearify that again just in case someone sees this. The phrase we are talking can be fake (Im not fluent in japanese nor have seen the interview); it's one I saw in a comment under the japanese comment section with these " "; and the comment was only saying that they liked the phrase and me too, mostly because (if it's true) I like this mentality of the author.

So yeah, even if it's true, is totally out of context, can even be talking about the author herself or anything that has no context with the manga.
