So, I'm re-evaluating my predictions.

  • No yuri tag on official sources

  • serialized in a shoujo magazine

  • complete at two volumes

  • main character doesn't even get horny about the supposed homewrecker, and the husband is a "green flag"

The chance of any physical infidelity occurring in this is looking very tiny, especially in a way that is sexy/fun. Same goes for Hikaru leaving her husband. I have never heard of a yuri manga where the main character chooses another woman over her husband, that wasn't tagged as yuri on official sites. A shoujo manga where a woman gets away with cheating on her husband with another woman sounds unbelievable on its own, without the yuri tag it's a non-starter. And the narrative doesn't have enough time to completely undermine this premise in just two volumes, especially without the affair getting physical.

Jeez, all that whining about cheating and indecency made me slightly get my hopes up, and now here I am lowering my expectations to avoid disappointment. I'm just going to hope that Yayoi Oosawa delivers at least on vibes if not the narrative. Ignoring whenever the focus is on the poor innocent husband and his fee fees, a vibe exists so far.

I'm like 99% of the time on the side of yuri but I'm against NTR. Rooting for the dude this time but cheating is inevitable. Maybe the dude will have some kinda flaw that makes the yuri easier to accept but he's passing the vibe check so far.

What could inspire this level of fixation on women seducing each other into infidelity? Even my imagination didn't jump to sloppy lesbian NTR while I was reading this, and I actually like that stuff.

Yes, that's exactly what I think is going to happen. The MC is going to learn that the girl she has a crush on is no good and she should stay with her loving husband. On one hand of course a partner who truly loves you and care about you as a person is better than someone who's just playing with your feelings, but you can't escape the context that it's essentially a story about a woman needing to get over her childish crush on another woman and stay in a heteronormative marriage. It reads very, very badly.

Personally I read it more as someone who's become caught up in a past and potential 'now' that could have been learning that that reality never existed in the first place, and that rather than romanticizing the past they can appreciate that what they have now is not only good, but also tangible and real rather than just an ephemeral idea. The old flame the MC is fixated on is an idealization, and that version of them never existed in the first place, but they've been so caught up in that view of the past it's affected their ability to appreciate the present. Imo, the story doesn't change much, if at all, if the old flame were a man or if the husband were instead a wife, but I do get that the optics of it change and won't dispute that as a read.

As for the cheating (which technically has yet to happen), I'm flabbergasted of how, whilst (yet) civil, this seems to be some sort of "us vs. them" thingy all over again? Can't I be able to empathize both with the queer woman who feels trapped within heteronormativity and the loving spouse who sees his partner drift away from him? The end of love is a strong topic regardless of participant genders.

Yeah, this is the page I'm on.

I don't think using that as a metric works because most of Yuri's works don't start with "I like this girl, she makes me horny." Masturbation is also not common. Most of the time it's "I like this girl gets nervous" and that happens here. But also, her husband doesn't make her horny either.

They talked about the Dog ⇨ Hana pretends to throw Hikaru's ring away ⇨ It's like playing fetch with a dog ⇨ Hikaru is Hana's dog.

Mind blown.
But seriously, maybe it'll be fun. The dynamic opens up some possibilities.

I do have to say as just a SOCIAL CONVENTION, imagine how terrifying it would be to lose your wedding way and how it happened. I imagine she wouldn't want to say how she lost it but in a small town EVERYONE knows you are married and your own husband who is upset/has complicated feelings toward you would get even worse. It sounds like social suicide is what i mean.

... An actual love triangle?
Just kidding it's probably that she's messing with Hikaru
I'm really digging this so far but I hope it ends happily for everyone

This one gets weirder and weirder with each chapter, what it's going on, and I really like that.

Either way, Husband comment confirms that he and Hana are (probably) the same age, I really hate that she doesn’t get facial lines (or whatever Husband has)

I wanted to wait with commenting until there are more bad takes in the forum, but:

Bisexual Love Quadrangle. With all edges on the graph besides Ao x Hikaru being at least somewhat feasible as of now. I don't think I ever actually read something like that. Also, Saoshika is a good boy.

I shall read this with piqued interest.
I wonder how will they resolve this situation.

Edit: Oh, and all characters so far pass the vibe check.
I don’t mind this not being endgame Yuri. Showing all their possible affections with our female protagonists as leads in this kind of environment is good enough for me.

(Also the “dog poop” part is funny my god…)

It'd be hilarious if nothing happens because the way its drawn it feels like crazy is jumping off the page. Like there's just tons of tension, but then what if it just never resolves.

Imagine if Hana just spends two volumes driving everyone in this town crazy and leaves by saying "alright time to go home to my girlfriend who I had been cheating on my now ex-husband with" and then that's it lmao.

This series drips so much melancholy, it's the last one I expected to serve up an actual belly laugh like this page.

Hana continues to be an agent of chaos. I still think she's here to break up this failing marriage, not fix it, but honestly from this point anything is possible. We could end with everybody single, the full throuple, or anything in between.

i'm on hana's side, i hope she sleeps with the husband, if i couldn't empathizing with hikaru when she was only a weirdo, i won't now that she is also a douche, the nerve to bring your crush to your partner's work is unbelievable

Not really into the bisexual ones, I guess. It is nicely drawn.

No yuri tag on official sources

damn... if true that's a shame. means the ending will be a lot more meh. i was hoping for something again along the vein of run away with me girl and blue garnet. just people making unwise and impulsive decisions for the sake of yuri

The Baka-updates website lists it as a Shoujo Ai a Yuri and a romance.

Yeah, okay, barring some kind of decent twist/explanation (or shakily written asspull, let's be fair), I think I hate Hana.

Maybe she'll actually be just a harmless but taunting jerkass, or the framing and perspectives are deliberate choices to make the reader think along a certain path and she was totally an all right person all along. And besides, we're only a few chapters in.

But I don't like how she treats people, and I don't like the trajectory being established.

Same, though I still kinda hope Hikaru and Harutaka amicably break up? Hikaru clearly has a lot of respect and gratitude towards Harutaka, but I just don't see a shred of romance there. To me at least, she reads as never having understood what love was supposed to feel like on account of her one actual love being labeled as childish affection, leaving her to assume her strongest opposite-sex platonic relationship must be love. Like, so what if Hikaru does get over Hana? That just means sooner or later she's going to catch feelings for someone else, and they're going to go through all this again. Continuing with the relationship is just going to keep hurting them both.
