Oddly enough I just found this author’s other novel in a bookstore about voice actress yuri a couple of weeks ago. It was decent but the characters didn’t even kiss (everything was off page). The author’s note at the end mentioned they were told to not write porn in their next novel anymore by their editor, which lead to me searching for the novel version of this to read in english (unsuccessful).

Reading this made it clear exactly why they were told not to write porn anymore lol.

I did check out reviews for the LN on Amazon JP to see what others thought and it seems to be mixed. Some of the reviews also have some spoilers as well so heads up on that.

The MC is braindead if she thinks that Nene would be okay if it was a guy doing this.

The MC is a tactician. She makes plans and executes them well.

But she's hopeless when it comes to seeing the big picture.

I feel like these girls are taking advantage of each other. It's fun. I guess it could turn out that the friend really is that naive but I not feeling that yet. She goes along with everything so easily (and I suspect, intentionally) that it doesn't really feel manipulative which makes it easier to have fun with all the silliness.

I really hate the whole "I don't know if this person likes me, time to sexually assault them" thing that I've seen numerous times over the years. Which I've seen it followed with "You could have just asked me if I like you, because I did, but now I hate you", and it's fucking miserable.

Okay I'm gonna need a POV swap where it's revealed the friend is the one secretly pulling the strings and she's just been pretending to be naive this whole time. Because who has that done to them in the theater and is just chill about it after the fact.

I feel like doing all that in a theater would be so uncomfortable in general, the lightning, the sound, everything is so off in general

Yeah, Nene reads to me as the classic “pure” manga heroine that seems like she was just dropped into the world at the start of the manga with absolutely 0 context for how humans interact with, desire, and show that desire for each other, just so her utter naïveté can be exploited for flimsy plot purposes.

At this point she’s not really a character, she’s just an object for the MC to play with/attain.

Then I looked at the other manga that this author has written here on Dynasty and that leads me to believe there is a reasonably high chance that Nene could have been lobotomized for the sake of the plot.

Yeah, when you see 2 authors in the manga/story then that often makes one of them is being paid to be the artist while the other person writes the story.

Hmmm...Some people prefer, like and want things to be 100% consensus but I guess there are are also other who enjoy the dubious aspect of a story/manga. Most people here in this thread prefer the 100% consensus aspect but there seems to be some who enjoy the dubious aspect...I am fine with either option as long it isn't full on Assault + Arrogant/Smug that the character is displaying while doing it (Arrogant and smug character can be done well to be likeable to readers but most aren't).

Now the main theories of the story direction:

-Nene actually knows MC(Kano) is in love with her and just lied about crush on school prez so MC will get her butt into action. Would be an amusing twist, the so-called innocent ditzy looking childhood friend is actually making MC dance on the palm of her hands instead of the MC thinking she is making the plan. Seem a bit unlikely but It would be funny to see her full a reversal and dominate the MC while going full on 'TOP' and turning MC into a 'Bottom'~

Nene does not have any romantic feelings for MC but she is actually bi (Yes this chapter and previous chapter 2, pretty much confirm that Nene can swing both ways judging from her reaction to MC's sketchy behavior) so Nene can have her feelings changed toward the MC. Assuming Nene wasn't making a fuss or raising outrageous due to their long time relationship as 'best friends' being a factor. Nene has the chance to see MC as a romantic interest in the future as long as MC plays her cards right.

Nene is actually straight [Very unlikely, at least Bi] and the author is trolling us into the BAD END route where the MC gets C*ck due to her own actions lol (Nene: Sorry Kano...I actually did 'think' I had some feelings for you and I was trying to get you act on it but after the date with school prez I had fallen for him completely...Kano: T_T NOOOO!!!! I DON'T WANT TO GET NTR!!!)...VERY VERY unlikely chance that would likely ruin the author chances of getting more readers in the future but there is always that VERY VERY LOW 1% chance that they will ruin and destroy their own story for the lulz, Seen it happen to some authors when told their story was getting Axed instead of gracefully trying to tie up loose end to their story.
