I used to not understand the concept of "hate reading/watching" and viewed it as a waste of time. Spend time on what you enjoy and all that.

But I'm hate reading this. The drama is so over the top and dumb, and the characters are unlikable (especially Fuyu). But I keep coming back to read this and feel irritated after every chapter.

Am I missing out on some sort of cultural context for "cutesy/high-pitched" = "lewd"? Because that's not an association I can recall having heard of before.

I asked around on discord and someone suggested "lewd" might mean something closer to "flirty" instead, which makes more sense in context, but they made that suggestion without looking at the original JP.

In the raws it's エロ声 so erotic voice, lewd voice, sexy voice, however you want to put it.

Sounds like I'm missing cultural context then. I don't see "high pitched/cute/feminine" voices as "lewd or erotic" and have never heard of anyone describing them as such. I've definitely heard more "sultry" voices described as erotic though.

Edit: Then again, these were 5th graders saying that about the MC, so maybe it's meant to be dismissed as something dumb and nonsensical that some kids were saying.

To my knowledge Japan does enjoy a sexy kind of cute, and elements related to that. So I think it's a cultural context thing here.

All over the world we have a sexy kind of cute, this is more about the type that exist in Japan. Just think of that parody voice saying “onii-chan” (or watch japanese porn) that is why they say she has a lewd voice.

I've seen various people in English speaking communities say that cute can't be sexy, so I'm not sure if sexy cute is super normal in the West...? Guess it depends on where you look. Though I think we're more or less on a similar page with what we're thinking lol

I'm definitely not familiar with "sexy cute". Actually just before checking this thread, I saw an alignment chart for characters with the x axis labeled "sexy" on one end and "cute" on the other. And characters placed near the middle would be more "sometimes sexy, other times cute" than "both at the same time".
It's not that sexy and cute are seen as opposite traits, but incongruous.

But yeah, I'll take note of this cultural tidbit going forward. I'd definitely seen that "onii-chan" thing shudders, but I'd never considered it as anything more than a fetish of some gooner otakus. I suppose that type of appeal is more widespread than I thought.

So I still haven't picked up the manga after the anime. If you told me this is canon that gets revealed later on, I'd probably believe you.

It's very pretty, but I would not have recognized them as Kanon and Saki without the tag.

Sparkle's just abusing her illusion power to go around kissing pretty girls. She knows exactly what she's doing.

Depends on the game. Stelle feels like a fully fleshed out character in her own right so I'm able to enjoy yuri between her and other characters.
Rover from Wuwa though feels much more like a self-insert. Harder for me to enjoy yuri between her and other characters.

I feel like Sendai's expression comes from her fully concentrating on:
- The sounds Miyagi is making and her body language.
- The movement of her fingers and what they're feeling.

Ok I think this one is actually my favorite from the Shuukura dump.

Missed the Shuukura dump. I think this one might be my favorite of them because of this very fun angle it's drawn from. Plus the slight blush and look of growing passion in Sendai's eyes.

I missed this one when it was posted. Gorgeous lines and Miyagi keeping hold of Sendai's arm like that is very on-brand for her.

I like this ship but I'm not particularly a fan of the "Cerydra has a secret soft side" that a lot of the artists like to give her. I enjoy seeing Cerydra as the merciless despot who readily takes full advantage of Hysilens' love and devotion. Give me that delicious toxic yuri!

But I'll still enjoy any art for this ship regardless of the dynamic, and this artist has made some bangers.

Well that was an incredibly unsatisfying ending.

I love Ayano x Miyoshi, but instead of anything resembling progress in their relationship, we get a fanservice shot down Ayano's shirt. I suppose that chapter would've been fine as just another chapter, but having it as the last chapter leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Although that is better than what my other favorite couple (Haruka x Kanae) got. There were only 2 chapters focused on them in the last 2 years. How very disappointing.

Well it was enjoyable to read while it lasted and it is impressive that this series has continued on for so many years. Maybe I'll be able to look back on Virgins' Empire more fondly once my disappointment about this ending subsides.

that being said, i feel like the last couple pages were unnecessary tbh. it was like... a little too heavy-handed? i'm not sure how to explain it rn, but i think a subtler closure would've been better here. as it is just makes it feel like cheap shock value

Qiangyi had already moved out and onto a relationship with this new girl (maybe even living together) just a few days after getting A'wu checked into that mental health facility? That is one fast rebound after getting out of a seven year relationship.

It gave me the impression that the author was feeling vindictive towards A'wu (or perhaps towards the real person who served as the inspiration for A'wu).

After just 3 pages with this new character? You certainly move fast.

It's not what the character says about themselves but how the author portrays it what is the problem. And so far nothing the character has said screams "I'm a girl!" at all, they don't see themselves as a girl.

"If only I could abandon this body and be reborn as a beautiful girl..."

"Goddammit! I hate this! Even though I finally look like my ideal self!"

Guess I'll bring this comment back to the current page from way back on page 2. These pages in particular clearly paint our MC as a trans woman. Whether the author made the character trans intentionally or by accident is something that will likely become more clear in future chapters.

Honestly didn't expect the tutor to have actually done something to her. I wonder if it's a serial thing or if she got found out and ghosted her because "it'd be for the better" (which might leave the avenue open for her to reappear as a dreaded love interest of the past...)

When I was reading comments in the earlier chapters, I was always wondering why everyone thought something didn't happen. My assumption was always that it was exactly like this.

I must have been thinking optimistically because I assumed the (presumably adult) tutor would do the proper thing and politely turn Nagi down when she found out Nagi was crushing on her. Perhaps while clumsily mentioning something along the lines of Nagi being too young and inexperienced to be with someone the tutor's age. Then, a broken-hearted Nagi decided to jam pack a bunch of "experience" into a 7 day relationship so she'd be "experienced enough" to qualify as a proper love interest for the tutor.

Clearly I was wrong. The tutor took advantage of a child instead of turning her down.

Oh man I was not expecting the child molestation route. Poor Nagi...ugh it hurts my heart that she had that done to her.
Maybe the tutor ghosted because her karma caught up with her.

"If sensei were my age", thinks first year HS student Nagi about this tutor. I would expect the tutor to have already graduated HS since Nagi isn't thinking anything along the lines of "being a HS student like her now" in regards to the tutor. Early college (18-20) years would be my guess.

Yes! This manga has quickly become one of my favorite yuri and one I always read ASAP when a new chapter is translated. Feels like it still has dozens of chapters of story to tell and I dearly hope it has the opportunity to tell it fully.
