Not every work on our site has to be squeaky clean, nor does it need to "be redeemed down the line"

You don't have to read it.

The biggest issue is people coming into here to keep whipping themselves into a frenzy. Do not.

This story has a right to exist and the people on these forums have a right to criticize it and point out how offensive it is, especially since most of the people doing so on this YURI site are lesbians and trans women who aren't super enthused with how unintentionally lesbophobic/transphobic it is!

Like I would argue most people are being fairly subdued in talking about it, only one person tried to argue for its removal even but people are allowed to complain about things, discussion is literally the whole reason the forums even exist!

Oh LMAO this is here. Fair warning the artist is apparently imfamous for ryona (aka violence fetish). Not sure if this will go that route but I am tempering my expectations.

I think it could use MORE ryona actually (Huge pervert go)

Definitely felt to me like a slow-ish burn that had to skip past confessions due to the looming axe, and we got a brief show of domesticity after the time skip.

Well, if them being roommates isn't enough, I guess we could always appeal to the translator.

Which word for love was getting thrown around in the raws? We looking at plain ol' suki? Or koi?

I feel like Sugar telling the translator to their face that this work is yuri should be all you need really??

Also I posted this on the discord server but I guess I need to post it here too.

"Honestly I think the funniest part of the ending of Galtaku is Fumi calling them both out for never saying what they actually feel and the extrapolated implication based on how they act there being they lived together while clearly being in love with each other but because neither of them said it before they weren't actually dating before this which is why they're only just now working up to maybe have say gex"
It's the meme where they say they're finally dating and everyone around them is just "what were you doing before that??" but built into their overall issues as a couple

Genuine peak, already bought the physical raws I absolutely adore this manga and I will continue praying for the pipe dream of it somehow getting an official english release some day.

have not read this but was shaken by the scanlator name

is that a waccha primagi reference

edit: Ok I read it
The first couple gave me a bad impression of the manga (certified twitter manga hater and this is the most twitter manga couple I've seen on Dynasty) but it got better. Woohoo.
Don't think I like the ahegao, it feels bizarre to see in yuri. But Keita is a man's name while most yuri mangaka are women or just do chaste pure moe content or are in their 40s or something

The author of this and Lily Fetishism Life is a woman and an irl lesbian, there's literally pictures of her holding her manga even she's just horny.

I'm surprised nobody is discussing the most shocking reveal of the chapter: that Fumi is into guys

Nagi and Airi are together (if currently going through it) so Fumi can be bisexual I guess idc

The piece afterword in the anthology allegedly is literally "drugs bad".

It's 薬、ダメ、絶対!

which is just "Drugs. No. Absolutely not!" and is a reference to Japan's anti-drug slogan ダメ。ゼッタイ。

https://www.keio.ac.jp/files/6da6f5230fe139fca4a668f94cede88805ddd330c4a17e01ebbaff901f935698

https://dapc.or.jp/torikumi/01_spreading.html

If this was an american comic and had a "Kids, this is your brain on drugs!!" message near the end, you'd be able to clock it for the joke that it is, but instead y'all choose to interpret it as some anti-drug war message.

Please get offline lol

(Seriously, why are people so offended by this? I read it and thought it was nice, in that it had a really clean artstyle and lots of sex. You have to be REALLY on the defensive to find this portrayal of a person who clearly is mentally unwell as an attack on your personal life... )

When did I ever say I was offended?
I think this one-shot is bad and people are trying to pretend it's deeper than it is and you're out here making me into some crusader for drug rights.

That said Japan does in fact view drugs like this and that part isn't a joke.

Again, people are trying to make this one shot that is as deep as a puddle into something it isn't.
The author didn't think about any of that and just wanted to make an anti-drug PSA.

Amazing play author I'm excited to see the finale.

This was one of the dumbest things I have ever read.
If it was meant to be an anti-drug PSA it failed because all it did was make me laugh, the author clearly knows so little about drugs that they have to be as vague as possible while pushing the idea that taking them even a little sends you into a hell spiral lmao.

This could be solved if you just fucking confessed to her Nagi!

tbf she basically did in chapter 16 and airi didn't get it at all

Because back then she combined it with baring all her emotions at once and overwhelmed Airi, she also didn't truly confess and just begged her to help her because she doesn't really know herself what to do with these feelings when the answer is that they should just date.

I do not think this is a problematic usage that has to be changed. And I'm Jewish.

Cool, the nazis didn't just use it for jews and modern bigots do not just use it for jews so that has little relevance.

Pavane Scans, Lily super respects yous twos quality and such but please. You gotta stop translating things as "degenerate"... there's assuredly a better choice of wording out there...!

Can you elaborate? Is there a connotation/association with the word I’m missing?

The general association with nazism which is still extremely prevalent in how it's used today by bigots, a lot of people sling it around without understanding what it actually is and it really isn't great.
Like there's one thing to reclaim a word but "degenerates" is really old and really shitty even if it isn't an outright slur.

Ego death orgasm

Author really just throwing all the fetishes in now that this is the last volume huh?

Seriously though as fucked up/horny as this chapter is it also kinda confirms what I felt about how Nagi has been acting since their pseudo-breakup-becoming friend again moment in that she hasn't really moved on from the codependance internally she's just trying REALLY damn hard to act normal and be a ""normal friend"" but she still clearly desperately just wants Airi to stay with her forever and will do a LOT to make that a reality.

I wonder if it's going to end up with something like Kyouko falling in love with Yuuri, because he's a boy in a girl's body. It's a perfect solution for a hetosexual girl with a severe case of androphobia.
I think that might piss a lot of people off, but not me. I'm actually intrigued by the idea. I would like to see more manga play around with biological sex and gender identity. Characters like Yamato from One Piece fascinate me.

Are you really sure about that?

Alright then, let's make a bet. If it turns out to be yuri, I win. If it turns out to be heterosexual, you win.

It'll be interesting to see which one of us ends up being right, hehe.

I'm not sure you understand what I'm saying. It's simple Kyouko falls in love with yuuri, because he is a guy in a non-guy package. Yuuri remains in a girl's body, to not frighten Kyouko. Yuuri and Kyouko will live happy ever after. It is totally a yuri ending. Well from a certain point of veiw.

Nah, there are a lot of things you're wrong about, but I'm not going to argue with you over them. I could easily prove my point, but it's more fun to turn it into a bet instead, hehe.

Okay how wrong can I be? I can only see three likely endings

  1. Yuuri uses his girl form to cure Kyouko of her androphobia then turns back into a boy. Kyouko falls in love with him. Hetero happy ending.

  2. Yuuri starts to identify as a girl. Kyouko falls in love with her. A happy yuri ending.

  3. Yuuri stays a girl but never stops identifying as a boy. Kyouko falls in love with them. Happy yuri ending, from a certain point of view.

Now I know there can be tons of other endings. Like Yuuri starts identifying as a girl. Becomes best gal pals with Kyouko, and then falls in love when she discovers boys. But it's almost certainly one of the three. You want to bet them my money is spread evenly between possibility 2 and 3, based on the things I read in the comments.

As much as I and I assume many other readers would love to see it, a scene where Yuuri just turns to the camera and says "I am transgender and want to be a girl." is never going to happen in a somewhat light-hearted manga like this, but the same goes for option 3. Much like with many of the other gender bender manga out there, the mc's gender is probably just going to be left vague and up to the reader's interpretation. Automatically flocking to the interpretation that it's "het in a non-het package" because of it is insulting to the original work and other interpretations. This might just be my opinion as a trans woman, but no living cis guy would ever choose to remain in a wrong-gendered body just for a crush. If Yuuri does ultimately choose to stay as a girl, a queer reading is unavoidable.

This is why if Fabiniku was gay it would have been a true masterpiece because it has a scene that does exactly this despite being a lighthearted mostly comedy manga with a GB premise.

If kaede really wanted to kill her why didn't she just crash the stupid truck and kill them both there? Just force the entire bottle down her throat and get as far away from this place as she can. Why does she keep acting like she's going to walk away and in the very next panel she's literally still right next to that psycho crazy bitch? JUST LEAVE ALREADY. Call the cops if you want someone to look after her she isn't your problem anymore like my fucking god. Ai is a damn idiot.

I shouldn't need to point out how

Just walk away from your abuser 5head it's so easy!

isn't good advice do I?

"Yeah I wouldn't mind falling in love with a guy BUT MY GENES THOUGH"
The sooner we figure out true same sex babies the sooner this mindset can die.

What are you gonna do if the girl can't conceive for some reason my man?

I feel part of the thesis of this series is the function of class s as both important legacy and a kind of generational trauma for adolescent sapphics

Yeah, this story really seems to be about the duality of Class S relationships. There's a layer of "tradition" which provides relationships a veneer of heteronormative legitimacy to outside observers, but the relationship itself is defined so loosely that it there's an improvisational, even liberatory aspect to it.

Yurika's interesting. It's easy enough to read her as a criticism of Class S with her "tradition" line, but she's sort of using that as a cop-out. After all, she explicitly broke tradition with how she got into a relationship with Aoyama. I think an alternative reading is that she's a criticism of yuri, which as a genre, often casts aside the improvisation of negotiating a relationship dynamic in favor of reproducing more static heterosexual relationship dynamics. I'd even point out that while Aoyama is performing oral on the "female" part of the flower, it is a very phallic depiction. It's not hard to see Yurika being cast in the role of a classic patriarchal villain—a fixation on youth, chasing pleasure, emphasizing difference in social position when the wife/mistress speaks up. In that light, "It's tradition." works more as a direct call-out on the abuse enabled by "traditional" relationships.

I don't think I agree in the slightest with the idea that more defined yuri relationships "reproduces more static heterosexual dynamics", especially when we're talking about the context of Class S here, something originally intended to be discarded once the girls left school for the sake of marrying men in a patriarchal society and tossing away any love they might have once had.

Kitano being trans was a very welcome surprise, with the premise of the manga being the way it is I'd be surprised if at least one character wasn't.
