Edit: I like how there are a few pages at the end of this chapter that show educational insights on how they bathed. I look forward to this series if it includes similar pages in every chapter. :)

Page 19's top panel is a very interesting choice of framing. I thought it a cheeky one-off till page 25 onward. Not sure what the purpose is but I don't necessarily mind I guess.

Yeah, though there still is that "look at this AMAZING JAPANESE THING..." that isekais often have. Not the biggest fan of that, but the reactions it draws out of Rachel are very amusing.

I just started but I find very amusing the setting is described as "1355 Roman empire". That is entirely accurate, to be clear, but I pretty much only ever see it being called "Medieval Germany" or "Holy Roman Empire" in English media. To see it being called just "Roman Empire" without any qualifiers is very novel.

Not sure what the purpose is but I don't necessarily mind I guess.

it's effectively an isekai and follows the genre trappings so why not? She's relegated to a small village so the time travel shouldn't affect the world at large and therefore it isn't a time travel story, even if she traveled in time.

It's a matter of perspective, since to the 14th century people, Ema pretty much does come from another world (and that's what she's claiming since she's assumedly an isekai fangirl). I'm reminded of that Kaminashi series where the premise was about the MC getting isekai'd into a world without God, but it's later revealed that he was just flung forward in time to a point where God no longer existed. (It's crap. Don't watch it.)

Well this was a fun read, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of their interactions and dynamic!

I’d honestly be more worried about the fact that the witch lady almost certainly isn’t Christian. You could get away with a lot in the Middle Ages depending on where you lived and who you’re local leaders were, but religious differences? That was the kind of thing that got your house burned down by an angry mob. Especially during the plague, when people were especially desperate to find a scapegoat to punish for their suffering.

Also, I’m still not sure where the idea that it was illegal for medieval women to be literate came from. Nuns and nobles were oftentimes literate, and as far as I know there were never any laws prohibiting the lowborn people of either sex from learning how to read, even if it was uncommon. I don’t think there were ever any laws about women being unmarried either (although they did have fewer rights than even their married counterparts). Lesbianism, on the other hand… yeah, that could be an issue, but hey, maybe the lord in this story is cool with that kind of thing.
