I found on Baka Updates that the author has only written two works. Their first is a yaoi, making this their first yuri. It’s reasonable to assume that the author is likely more experienced in writing yaoi than yuri. You knew the awakening had to happen, but I like how it's happening.

Kinda love how over the top all the cruelty and violence is. It's so stylised and extreme that it becomes an enjoyable fantasy about recognising humanity in each other. Also love the art

Do think this manga is missing the tags 'rape' and 'foiled rape attempt'.

This has got me giggling at inappropriate times because it's a bit over the top. Feels like it's trying hard to be "edgy" but is missing the mark.

Still looking forward to more though. I don't have much hope for the plot but it should be an interesting ride.

Looks like she was born and raised there pretty much.

The prison seems to be on an island so it's possible there are only seabirds around

Ah, a prison baby. But then why is she an inmate if she's just the product of another inmate? Is this going to be some dystopian bullshit of "the sins of the parent are the sins of the child" and literally legally carried out like that? Also, I've seen enough media to know the doctor dude is going to find out eventually about Gill becoming sapient or "fall in love", I only hope he ends up a wingman instead of the "creations of man cannot be equal" type antagonist often in AI stories.

I guess crow girl is the child of the prison director (most likely through rape), so that's why she has even less rights than the other inmates. She might not even officially exist as a citizen. I see the drawing as a hint that "something" will happen to get her out.

(And the yuri censoring is dumb)

It's because Gill is getting reset after tonight. Su doesn't know it yet, but this is effectively Gill's farewell to her.

Well, I was right about being found, but I wasn't expecting the acceleration of the story this fast. Wondering if this isn't super popular and is being wrapped up or if planned to be short, or if this is just a prelude to more to come.
