Considering the pacing of the original 2DK run and Yuuko's own arc, a fast happy ending wouldn't sit right with me. I'd have liked to see this pairing develop more though. Okada's awkward prickliness offsets Yuuko's bubbliness, especially if Okada is in pursuit and if Yuuko is still romantically oblivious like when she was younger.

Oosawa Yayoi's works continue to be delectable. Yum. What a collection.

The truth is somewhere in the middle, pronunciation-wise. Both romanizations are viable, though personally I prefer "Kazuki" as well.

Gotta say, it has been so long since I read 2DK that I had completely forgotten about that character before being reminded here in the comments. Maybe if the previous translation opted for French too I would have remembered hehe.

This one really rubbed me the wrong way. No, that girl's enthusiastic jargon and her ability to go to classy coffee shops her fellow temp can't afford are not pleasant and refreshing, they're frigging annoying. She's nice, kind of, but she's making herself part of the problem.

And while having people you like at your workplace helps you survive it, if it's as crappy a workplace as most Japanese office workers have to deal with that is NOT a solution, it's just a pretty nice band aid. Ideally, once you have people in your workplace that you like and trust, you can then start a union (or a socialist revolution :p ) so you can maybe get good actual working conditions. The whole frame of "My work sucks but it's all MY fault for having a bad attitude and I ought to be EMBRACING the unpaid overtime and crappy conditions" is a massive pile of BS.

French? Why not just have the french term change to English with a totally different font?

Having her English banter in French makes her look so bombastic and mundain... And I fucking love it!

Yuuko is an amazing character: a genuine true believer in all the asinine bullshit people fake believing in. She's horribly annoying but also generous and sweet and empathic. She deserves her own full spinoff.
