That the magazine touts it as a "hit series" doesn't mean anything. It's pure marketing.

It could be doing poorly, they'd still write that it's a hit series and that volumes are selling like hotcakes.

That's incredible, but it comes down to the old saying "sex sells" so yeah.. I would've preferred toned down to be really honest, like you can make it erotic enough with just good angles during dances but I won't really complain for what it is now.

And here I was thinking "maybe hotcakes aren't really THAt popular in Japan and we just misunderstood all this time" but I was wrong :)

TBH, I don't think Skeeter Rabbit made it into the top 20 in nationwide Oricon sales, but the blurb did say 人気 (popular) instead of the essentially meaningless 絶賛発売中 or 好評発売中 (selling to high praise/reputation).

I guess Uran could get away with it because if the book is popular somewhere, then it cleared the threshold :p

In a way I agree but I think the point is Shii-chan's dreaming about doing precisely that is the theory. And the MC is a brainless otaku so she's no better than Manabe Yoshihisa in Kotarou-san when she fantasizes. Shii-chan's just upset she woke up and it wasn't Chika-chan.
