Oh, she's trouble. I find it interesting that she only now realized that she loved her husband. This girl, that she's been obsessing over for YEARS is suddenly right in front of her (and seemingly interested) but she can't let go of her ring because that bond means something to her.

I think the husband is figuring out the truth: That she isn't his. This one is going to have pain all around.

The messy ones are hard to read, but they stick with me the longest. For all of us die hard yuri fans, let's hope yuri wins out in the end.

It's interesting that everyone seems to not only know that Hikaru is obsessed with Hana, but also expect exactly this sort of thing to happen. Even her husband seems to except it as kind-of inevitable and, while he's upset, he also seems to be kind-of supporting her. It's a very odd dynamic and it seems to run counter to the idea that this will be a story about Hikaru being forced into a heteronormative marriage. I mean, Hikaru just called out of work for two days straight based on a rumor that Hana was coming back and then spent the day with her and, while he's understandably upset, he seemed more hurt than angry.

Also, something seems up with Hikaru, but I'm not sure what it is.

Not clear which is going to be messier--the story or the comment section.

Fun times ahead in either case.

You can say that again.

I've read a lot of manga with unhealthy relationships, but this really feels like it's up there.

No, I think the assumption was that male yuri fans are more likely to be pressed about yuri that involves cheating because they may empathize more with the man who is being cheated on than the women who are having the affair with each other. Of course, this is incorrect!

Like I guess it's slightly unusual behavior for around here but I don't know I would go out of my way to describe empathizing that way as incorrect

Empathizing with fictional characters to the extent that you forget that they're fictional, that the bad thing happening in the story is not actually happening to you, is obviously a co-ed hobby enjoyed by a vibrant and diverse community.

Oh that's what you mean! 100% agreed. Everybody loves to get weird about fiction. Ain't bein' a messy mostly-hairless primate great?

Bisexual polycule? Bisexual polycule? Can we get yuri AND yaoi??

Also I'm perfectly fine with cheating stories when they're not just shallow OOOOHHH SPICY melodrama. I think people are used to engaging with bad/hokey/cheap entertainment fiction and expect everything to burn them like said bad fiction. It's fun to think about all the circumstances and feelings the characters have to deal with. I love sadistic glee when it comes to stories. Yuri is a pretty consistent way to get that kind of pretentious shit too

I'm like 99% of the time on the side of yuri but I'm against NTR. Rooting for the dude this time but cheating is inevitable. Maybe the dude will have some kinda flaw that makes the yuri easier to accept but he's passing the vibe check so far.

... Man, I think I don't fucking like Hana.

Which was not where I was expecting to go, but I'm going to trust this feeling for the moment.

Hana and the main char probably had some kinda low key gay-ish thing going on I the past, just have to wait for the history to unravel

This almost gives me similar vibes to like, if pink candy kiss was told from/including the husband's perspective. im intrigued!

First reaction was oh, so that kind of person. But after thinking a bit I'm not feeling as sure. But one thing I feel sure about is, this is going to be a ride.

They talked about the Dog ⇨ Hana pretends to throw Hikaru's ring away ⇨ It's like playing fetch with a dog ⇨ Hikaru is Hana's dog.

I think I got my explanation on why Hikaru's that way, she caught a really bad case of being a sub to the cold, possibly abusive dommy mommy.

You show promise. I shall follow your career with great interest.

As for the cheating (which technically has yet to happen), I'm flabbergasted of how, whilst (yet) civil, this seems to be some sort of "us vs. them" thingy all over again? Can't I be able to empathize both with the queer woman who feels trapped within heteronormativity and the loving spouse who sees his partner drift away from him? The end of love is a strong topic regardless of participant genders.

Uhh that seemed pretty psychotic. Like, she only knew her as a little kid, they basically had no relationship, and all of a sudden she's putting a ring on her finger? What??

I'd get it if she was an old flame, but this girl is straight up manipulative on day 1, wtf?!

I think it's more that we don't know the extent of their relationship, it's probably going to be constructed retroactively, but your point still stands. Doing these things like an hour after "reuniting" is some insane pedal to the metal type shit.

In any case, I have some thoughts of my own about Hikaru, but I also think that it's so early that any and all thoughts would probably be more fueled by projection than by any established narrative or character traits. I'm mentioning this explicitly about myself, but also to others, so they can keep vigilant if they share a similar tendency to my own.

Overall, I like what the story develops, but in truth, it's probably going to be too heavy for me to handle, so I might not be able to keep following it. I wish you who do that the ride be as bumpy as you like it to be.

Something similar happened to my grandpa. His first wife turned out to be a lesbian, so they quietly ended it and didn't tell anyone why.

i wanted to say something about finding it hard to suspend my disbelief that such a brief encounter is enough to make haruka act like that even as an adult. but honestly.. i've fantasized about my hometown crush coming back into my life like this too. there's something enticing about knowing someone you wouldn't normally have met, only because you grew up in the same small town together.

I don't quite understand why discussions about cheating in stories so often quickly devolve into assertions about "not liking cheating" in real life.

this is an aside, but oh man, when that movie Past Lives came out i remember there was stupid discourse about whether it romanticized cheating or not. i think people are just more sensitive about relationships. its easier to insert yourself in a fictional relationship than, idk, a fictional crime.

In Pink Candy Kiss, I would wager that Hario knows exactly what Ema & Takara are up to and is somehow okay with it. This hubby senses Hikaru has a thing for Hana and is questioning his life's decisions.
