The “my partner is so cute/suddenly lovey dovey, therefore could be cheating” is certainly a stock joke, and in this circumstance there’s the couple dynamic that when the two of them first met Mitsuki had zero on-panel friends, and Aya tended to stress as Mitsuki became more popular. Now they both have separate friend groups, so there are even more complications in that area.

And of course we know that Aya tends to lose her shit when under academic pressure as well.

People defended it as a joke last time so I knew that's what I'd wake up to, and for me just as it wasn't funny the first time it's not funny the second time either. In my opinion it's a really strange conclusion for Aya to jump to joke or not, and I really hope this won't become a running bit where we see it a 3rd and even 5th time. That's my opinion and if people find it funny or are indifferent about it that's also fair, for me it's going to annoy me every time it happens though lol

It's definitely valid, not finding the joke funny; it's not all that funny to me either. I just don't think there's much need to look into those joke lines more deeply as of yet. It's the same anywhere else the same joke has popped up in other romance manga and wasn't implying some issue with those relationships. If something changes in future chapters, then maybe but right now it just seems innocuous and comedic. Maybe the joke doesn't read well across cultures. As Appstore said in their comment, it's definitely one I've seen in a few manga with perfectly healthy relationships; so the authors are definitely pulling it from somewhere.

I'm not looking at it deeply or even expecting it to be deeper than a passing punchline, I just don't like it and don't want it to be a running bit one way or another.

I don't mean you specifically. That part was talking about some of the other comments before and that we continue to see now that are reading more into it and the author. I did say I had no problem with your comment or what you were saying and partially agreed with you, at the beginning of my response.

That makes sense, I didn't mean to come across as rude only that I wasn't 100% sure so I wanted to clarify on my end in regard to how deeply I'm looking at the cheating aspect.

Yeah no worries.

Aya, honey, I love you but you really need to walk me through your thought process, because I have no idea how you'd arrive to this conclusion.

There is actually a real phenomena where when someone cheats, they will suddenly begin treating their partner with much greater affection than they normally would in order to ease their guilt or to throw off suspicion. This isn't all cases, of course, but it's not hard to see how Aya's mind might have gone there if she has heard warnings like this in the past

ngl i hope it's a joke that we're not meant to take seriously. if not, maybe there's an unfortunate probability of us turning away from green and towards blue

I hope they never talk about this and drag the artificial drama for 80+ chapters of nothing-burgers.

This series doesn’t ever do any one thing for 80+ chapters, so we’re probably safe there.

Now that I think about it... Have we read anything about Aya's father?

Aya is VERY insecure, I think. Hopefully won't blow up later...

Can't make everyone happy. If you're not, just stop reading and consider it ended at graduation.

Some would have liked it ends at graduation, "and they lived happily ever after"

Others wanted it to continue "forever". The author is currently writing for these ones.

For it to continue, it needs some tension/drama/plot.Author made some choices. If you don't like them, drop it.

Assuming Mitsuki gets a confidence boost from seeing Aya and decides to play her solo section which goes over well with the crowd, I wonder if the other band members will be upset at her or accept to integrate her style.

Mitsuki really feels insecure about her position within this band--probably feels terrible knowing she's accepted this position as well. I'm sure she's worried how uncool and spineless she'll look in front of Aya. I wonder if she's not been fully upfront with Aya about her place in the band. Will this be a shock to Aya?

Aya's coming could go a lot of ways. Mitsuki could spiral worse, or Aya could help her feel better after noticing how uncomfortable Mitsuki is up there.

There's also the chance Aya winds up loving the performance and that reaction more than anything could make Mitsuki feel uncomfortable, lost and alone up there. This would be notable, because it would be an internal issue for them to overcome together and as a writer I can't deny the allure of that choice. Being a 4 pager, might make handling that turn difficult though, so maybe not. This is interesting, no matter how it goes. I'm looking forward to how this plays out.

This is the reverse situation to the school prom, where in that case it was Mitsuki saying she wasn't going but then turned up.

I think that Mitsuki knows that the band, as it stands, is not right for her but she seems not to have the confidence to move on. I hope Aya turning up will give her the push to change things around.

i did NOT expect people would be so upset over the cheating joke or take it so seriously.

but whatever, im looking forward to seeing the impact of aya seeing the performance. i agree with the other person that either direction would be fun to read.

Dude has come a long way from when he got introduced as a "jerkface". Now I'm wondering about the other dynamics in that band considering the way Mitsuki is reacting to cutting the solo in one song. It strikes me that there's some serious problems there, and I hope she separates away from those problems before it causes MORE problems for her.
