A tiny part of me respect Toxic Mom at least acting somewhat civil and understand a bit of her bias (At least she admit Mashiro is smart lady)...but the other majority is saying she mostly TOXIC and annoying idiot that holds Mashiro background against her despite the obvious positive effects she had on her daughter. Sure her background is not ideal but she is a smart woman that help improved Makino to do better!

While granting the extreme toxicity of the mom as a person, in terms of the narrative she has shown herself to be eminently out-maneuverable, and with a tendency to fold when her extreme hardline doesn’t work.

And while it’s been one problem after another for our scummy MC, those problems don’t tend to last very long.

Nothing really says their parents relationship is abusive.

And the relationship with their daughters is more that they were emotionally neglectful, and clearly playing favourites, since part of Makino being a scumbag is her basic lack of self worth.

Also Makino's sister came out to both her parents, when she had flowers on the brains.

On another I just had a thought for more drama, won't Mashiro get into major trouble if her agency finds out she is dating Makino?
