Author mentioned people wanting a continuation but I think it's works better as a self-contained story, Meanwhile the continuation I want is the girl in the afterlife with her two wives fighting over her.
I was thinking about that too. It does raise some interesting questions about how exactly souls and the afterlife work in this setting. Like maybe for most people that get resurrected, since they're backed up with very recent memories their cloned soul and original soul kind of just merge into one consciousness in the afterlife after they die permanently? But in a case like Nia where her clone's personality and experiences would end up diverging heavily from the original, she just ends up as her own person/soul in the afterlife.
On a related note, it's fun to imagine just how Mel would treat Nia 2 compared to Nia 1. She'd probably be filled with all sorts of conflicting emotions about all sorts of things for a long while - whether to consider her a separate person or not, how to act now that she's considerably older than Nia, if falling in love with Nia all over again would count as betraying the original Nia, etc. And all the while Nia would see how much Mel cares for both her original and current selves and fall even more in love with her.
