The idea that breaking them up would cause Rose to abandon the priest seems really naive based on what we've seen so far, I wonder if they just completely don't understand her

Aww, I'm kinda sad that their date seems to be over. Back to intrigue, I guess.

It would seem to be the case. They have underestimated her at every point thus far.

Things are about to get very hot.

As for the real meat n' potatoes of the issue at hand...

Maintaining the status quo has NEVER resulted in change within a meaningful time frame for those who need the help,it might even take a few generations for that to create change.

Having them rise up through protests for their rights is a surefire way to get everyone to notice them, but does little when they simply get oppressed over and over again.

Assassinating the corrupt politicians would most certainly change things, but that doesn't gurantee that the new ones would actually change anything for the better for the refugees unless you wrangle sympathetic ones into power.

Serving as a mere outlet can only do so much, since religion won't change the mistreatment from their employers, won't provide food on the table, won't get the refugees better treatment from important officials, and won't solve the root issue, the problems faced by each individual that forced them to become refugees, most of it being war.

As for the refugees themselves being an issue,it seems that they've overcome the issue of just having them in the nation to begin with(Sweeden is a prime example of how bad it can be when handled badly),processing them into the nation(Hungary did an excellent job with that),and then actually keeping them there(Germany had once deported all newly arrived refugees for a certain month back out within the month or so).

Unlike those massive problem causing refugees one can find in Europe, these one seem to have fully went into the assimilation process despite the relatively very high cost of living,so they do deserve to be treated far better, since few have to be deported for causing crime.

Not as complex of a problem as it is in Europe, but a problem nonetheless.

Will the power of lesbian love between a weary one and a naive one change it?,can the affections of two spies solve everything?,we'll have to buckle up and see!

I think what these two (the head priest and head of "Babylon") really need is a mediator.

The priest mentioned the refugees earning respect and autonomy and the spymaster thinks they need allies with money and political influence, which aren't opposed goals in and of themselves. Their main contention seems to be the time taken achieving those things. Both of them are right about a lot of stuff, and they would both be better off working together to figure out how to make things happen than at odds with one another, which is hopefully the direction things will go as the relationships between our protags and secondary protags develop.

This is turning into being less about the hitman herself and more about the political conflict between the two organizations. Not that I'm not intrigued, but it feels like the main character herself is kinda being pushed aside for a bit.

Cannot believe Benika almost singlehandedly solved this entire crisis through the power of yuri. A shame that the two organisations didn't manage to make it eye to eye despite pretty much agreeing that things need to be better for the refugees.

Also I love that this story is turning out to at its core be about how refugees and immigrants need to be treated better by the countries that take them in, it's a really refreshing narrative in a political landscape where you pretty only ever hear the opposite.

Meanwhile Rose and Benika have no idea what's actually going on or what they've just unleashed... :D

And we finally learn exactly what the two organizations are about.

Awfully kind of those two characters to recap their past, their goals, and their positions on how to achieve them.

I find the contrast here really interesting. The violent, illegal hitmen organization is advocating for peaceful progress and restraint, while the church is the ones promoting a more direct and aggressive approach.

So the next "arc" is going to be Hibai and Gina trying to break up Rose and Benika. They can't just out Rose, because that could cause her to seek revenge. So we're going to get more antics! Which I quite enjoy. I think the great strength of this work is the way it has this ultra-serious backdrop and plot, yet the mood is often light.

I'm finding myself irresistibly reminded of Brazilian bishop Helder Camara's comment
“When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor have no food, they call me a communist.”

This is not something I expect to happen when I'm reading a manga.

It's more that the violent organization is protecting the status quo under a thin veil of "magically things will change by not doing anything".

Two different Knights Templar, who want to help the same people in different ways... and have a History.

I'd accuse them of being ex-es, but one of them is supposed to be a high level priest... (Not that that stopped priests in the old days, bunch of Popes who had bastard children...)

Character list so far:

1-[Rose(MC)]:
Hair color: either blonde, brunette or red (hard to tell with black and white manga/comic)???
RS 2088 [Code name???], Rose is sadly a fake name. True name: unknown and probably not important for now.
An former soldier fleeing war and poverty.
Estimated true age: in her mid-late 20s. Working as a hitman.
Fall in love with Benika who managed to fill color in her dull life of just barely surviving.
Goes to church to confess her sins sometimes.
A very skilled hitman, praised by the autospy specialists in the organization for making her accident look normal.

2-[Father Shiraifune]:
The father of Benika.
Smoker when stressed and often hear people/refugees confessions. A serious person who does not leak personal info (Though they do not see each other appearance in the confession booth).
Strong good morals as a priest.
Loves and cares about his daughter.

3-[Benika]:
Meet the MC during working part-time then got to know her more (Find her Gap moe cute from theri first meeting)
Total cinnamon bun and kawaii, gave Rose hope to live.
Currently trying to hide her Yuri relationship with Rose from her Dad in fear of him disapproving and her dad possibly getting fired from the church due to church stance on Homosexuality even if her father approves.
Excited and is ready to ship her new friend 'Hibai' with the so-called Ex-girlfriend XD

4-[Leader of the hitmen group/fraction]:
-Does not personally know our MC(Rose) and didn't even know she was working for them until they tried to catch the MC's future father-in-law lol XD
-Known personal history with the Leader of the church group/fraction from 7 years ago.
-Believe in the wait and hope for the best strategy for the refugees. Does not believe arm conflicted for better rights is a good idea currently and hopes the refugees will get better rights in the future.
-She tooks out people that is deemed problematically that could disrupt/destroy the status quo.
Current Goal: Trying to guess/Assess the Church Goals/aims without provoking Rose too much...Also trying to find where the [Rosary/stolen data is being hidden at]

5-[Leader of the church group/fraction]
Known personal history with the Leader of the Hitmen group/fraction from 7 years ago.
Archbishop Ildebrando. Founded Liberty bell. A saint to the refugees.
Stole data from hitmen servers
The idiot that gave Father Shirafune the rosary containing bunch of secret data from the hitmen group...I mean sure give a clueless innocent priest worker top secret data, great place/person to hide it lol...
Current Goal: Trying to get back the [Rosary] without provoking Rose too much...

5.5-[Random mooks from the Church and hitmen group]
Skilled fighters but not good enough to beat our MC XD

6-[Hitman spy]
Name: Hibai-san???
Befriend Benika 1 month ago.

7-[Church spy]
Name: Formerly was going to be 'Sanguinaria' but turned into Gina...aww Hibai gave her Ex-girlfriend her spy name XD
Came in as 'Hitman spy's Ex-Girlfriend
-Has a personal grudge against the hitmen group for family being killed by them.
They code-named the hitmen group as [Babylon]

{Topic of discussion for Chapter 26}:
It a sad thing...refugees often get exploited and treated like outsiders by the country that takes them in, said country only seeing them as cheap labor force... Chapter 3 shows the casual abuse.

Meh that just how humans are like, the people often in charge seeing other humans as tools for money making and to gain more power...sad world we live in but that is the unfortunate reality...only way to change that is to have enough power (money/status/connections + etc.)

Yeah like some comments already said....I wish they just team up to work together to help the refugees get better lives.

{The Archbishop way/method}
--> Is probably faster and will make the country be unable to ignore the Refugees that they have been abusing...but that method means fighting/people potentially dying for the cause.
-This method means they do not believe there will be any changes for the better for the Refugees unless they fight for it. Thinks Government will continue to exploit Refugees...which to be fair has high chance of happening if there is no changes made.

{Hitmen method of status Quo}
--> Basically hoping for the best that things will change for the better for the Refugees in like 10-25+ years later...
-Basically she is hoping by doing the dirty work they(government) will be willing to listen/heed suggestions for better Refugees treatment. She does not want the government/country to fight with the Refugees where the Refugees will die from the conflict.

The main key:
Rosary (The leak info containing blackmail on the goverment and hitmen group that the Archbishop wants to protect and use as a bargining chip/ Current Encrypted{Written in code}) for the conflict.

{Suggested method if they end up working together}:
A combination of their 2 methods, taking out the corrupted & problematically Refugees while also making plans to take out the problematically corrupt people in the goverment who sided with abusing the Refugees before finally helping people that have good morals that would help the Refugees get better rights be seated in those empty seats....

Bonus point if this route has:
Rose (+) Benika ship (The main canon ship, they cute together)
Church spy (X) Hitman spy ship (I like how they bond over how scary Rose is...also Benika ships them too...)
ArchBishop leader (X) Hitmen fraction leader ship (I DON'T CARE IF ARCHBISHOP/PRIESTS NOT ALLOWED TO MARRY! I SHIP IT LOL XD)

I know I am being ridiculous but it would be funny if they used to date lol XD

Yeah, that spy is about to bounce off her unshakable sweetness.

indeed, forget the spies, the true couple that needs help are those two. They are both too set in their ways that them talking alone won't do much.

well, with how things are going, I'm not sure negotiation can be done anymore. Also, trying to break Rose and Benika up seems like a terrible idea, what are they trying to do here?
