Yeah Asumi said the kiss was plain because she was in 5th or 6th grade and hadn't started feeling romantic attraction yet. Asumi was 3 years older so I'm assuming its the difference between a 10 and 13 year old, so one person pre-puberty and the other in the beginnings of puberty
