Women love sweets and men don’t seems to be a common stereotype in Japan.
Thing is, the Japanese word "amai" means both weak and sweet. In anime, you see a lot of fight scenes where some guy botches an attack and his opponent yells "AMAI!" to mock him -- as well as a lot of scenes in which a wee girl tries some dish, discovers it's really sweet and says "Amaaai!" in a happy singsong voice.
The homonymy of the two words has led to the association of the notions of sweet and weak, which many men find so disturbing that they entirely avoid sweet foodstuffs because they don't want to be connected to the idea of weakness.
(Of course, there are also men who love sweet things and don't care about the traditional ideal of masculinity. In manga and anime, you often see them in fancy cafés, eating extravagant parfaits and such, while the waitresses look at them with huge sweatdrops on their heads, lol.)
To be honest I got so hungry I nearly forgot this was a Yuri until the very end
Get used to this. It happens every damn chapter. This author is way too good at drawing and describing delicious food (and its effect on people).
