Hm the doggirl section was kinda ick to me because she insisted on treating the doggirl like an animal even after she said she's no different than a human. The other plots were fine, but that one was too disrespectful for my tastes.

I think the manga should have been ecchi, for the gag to work. It's like someone took PG-13 jokes and cleaned them up for PG readers.
Edit: Plus I can't see getting a lot of mileage out of that gag.

I can see what you mean, but I don't think that's the only way to go about it. As you said jokes feel to PG, but you could fix it by making jokes themselves more sexual instead. The funniest ecchi comedy I've ever seen was Seitokai Yakuindomo, which bases its entire humor solely on dirty jokes and have no fanservice etc. whatsoever.

Weirdly, there is a Japanese wikipedia article on it which comes up as one of the first results. It is not very long, and the references include a link to manga artist Kashiwagi Haruko, with a note that her debut series "Inu" has a scene in the prologue where a dog that had been bought for the purpose of butter dogging dies of diabetes.

Not sure what I expected with this title. Seems to be lighthearted fun, nothing wrong with that.
Of course the Yukionna would be the only one who is into it (and MC didnt even harrass the vampire).

by asking for the butter dog she basically said she wants to be eaten out tho, can this be any more subtle?

Expected this to be more "sexually harassing"; nice that it isn't. It's kinda mild and relaxing, I guess.

I vaguely remember some commenter wrote before that the word ecchi, the way they used it in Japan, covered the whole gamut -- from just slightly sexual to NSFW.

Of course, in the English-speaking fandom, the term might be used in a different way. Kind of like how many American fans use "shoujo ai" for soft yuri... when, in Japan, it more or less means het porn with adult men doing little girls.
