It's been two volumes of nothing but Adachi being a useless lesbian and little to no focus on Shimamura's perspective whatsoever. I'm starting to lose hope that anything's actually gonna happen here.

Yes, it's her. Her calling Shimamura by "Shima" is the tipoff. It hasn't happened in the manga... yet.

I assumed at the time that whole little storyline in the LN existed for the purpose of reintroducing her later. Looks like I was right. I'm guessing we'll see that flashback in some form in the manga soonish.
