I love Riri already.

How'd they even get reincarnated anyways?

I am suspecting this ended the way such stories stereotypically end in JRPGs: a hero(ine?) showed up and killed the Demon Lord. What's more, the fact of the Age gap strongly implies that Riri was killed (or died) way ahead of Maou, which means that he has had at least a few years to think about his failure to confess in his past life, as well.

Reincarnation time doesn't always correspond to time of death, plenty of stories play around with that. In any case, we don't know how or when Riri died (yet) but we have seen the demon lord being stabbed in the back, which doesn't seem very heroic, so it may actually have been an ally betraying him instead.

You do realize the whole point of fantasy is doing things that aren't possible in real life, right? Sure, if a person wants to medically transition, in reality, then they'll have to go through a long, hard, and imperfect process, but fiction isn't reality and it's pretty easy to understand why someone might want to imagine a world where they don't have to do that.

Also, like ninryu said, not every transperson needs to or wants to medically transition or medically transition to the same extent.

Let's agree to disagree then.
This work is not a fantasy work of a guy wanting to become a girl and magically getting his wish granted and turning into one.
Also if you truly think this author cares or is protrans or anything related to that you are quite naive person.
Most japanese GB authors don't really give a finger about supporting that cause GB works aren't for such kind of audience, they are mostly for fetishizing girl x girl relation with excuse of putting a guy as lead in some form cause such "yuri" is more acceptable to some type of readership cause for japanese it's stil a male x female relation (like in Ayakashi Triangle for comparison or in Onimai).
Only Kashimashi breaks this trope but only cause the lead even as a boy, for brief time we learn about him before the change, basically acts like a girl in it already so it comes natural.
And in this case author feels enormous need to show us him being a guy in previous life and especially that his love for that woman started from before while he was still a guy and not being born after him becoming a woman so it rather still shows us it's heterosexual love than a GL one.
This story could easily work if the lead was a Demon Queen in previous life, but we know why author didn't use such angle cause it would actually make it a yuri/GL title for real than GB romance of what it is in reality than a yuri one.

Well I look forward to seeing you back here after chapter 2 continuing to complain about something you don't like, I guess.

I can't tell if her name is supposed to be one of those "swap the characters around" joke type names or not. Maou is very close to Ooma phonetically.

I forgot she's only in middle school lol. Riri is waiting a long time.

aw hell yeah, I'll do this and this and that and accomplish this and then once I'm a billionaire webtoon CEO I'll go and sweep Riri off her feet and..."

No! go get her NOW. That's been the problem for apparently much longer than the 1st chapter made it look.

I will genuinely cry if it turns out Riri had something to do with the demon lord's death. I did NOT like that hand trembling here.

Ahh, this truly is a yuri work after all, because these two have been trapped in lesbian sheep syndrome their entire lives

Ooma is the biggest simp I've ever seen. And yikes it's interesting to get more backstory that she(he) kept saying the exact same thing over and over again From child all the way up to ruling as the Demon Lord and kept Riri guessing/on edge waiting for him to finally confess his feelings. I'm very curious how he(she) ended up dying as the Demon Lord since he(She this is really annoying) doesn't even know themselves.

I also love Riri screwing with her as well.

Thanks for another chapter of this again not usually a fan of gender bender stuff but at least so far it's not so bad Ooma isn't like some that desperately want to turn back into a male and embraces that she's become a girl and seems to be perfectly fine with it.

Riri best girl. I am pretty sure she has known about Ooma feelings all along -- as well as the fact that he has apparently never considered himself good enough for her. She must have some angelic patience and also really love that lucky bastard, too, to have given Ooma so much time to figure himself (and now herself) out.

I will genuinely cry if it turns out Riri had something to do with the demon lord's death. I did NOT like that hand trembling here.

I think that even if that turns out to be the case, it would have been for a very good reason.

As previously established, he has been a lesbian sheep in his past life already, so the reincarnation wasn't that much of a change...

I was thinking of something more in the lines of her family or any former associates betrayed the Demon Lord and she was too powerless to stop it or realized it too late and now in her present life she still carries this regret and feels as if she herself betrayed him (despite it not being true at all, but the source of guilt would've come from "if only I was never in his life, these people wouldn't have done that" aka she feels like she's part of the reason he got stabbed in the back, quite literally)

Purely speculative, but this series was based on a one-shot titled "It's Too Early for the Demon Lord" that the author wrote in 2020. There are some significant differences though, such as Ooma being a 4-year old boy and Riri being one of the preschool teachers. The characters were pretty different though, as Ooma was more assertive and haughty and the romantic tension between the two was significantly less.

Anyway, in that version Riri loses something important and Ooma recruits the other kids and some animals to go and find it. At the end of chapter, Ooma finds the important thing, a ring which he had previously given her in the other world, and essentially proposes to Riri. On the final page, Ooma wonders how the ring even got to this world in the first place, and unbeknownst to him, Riri is shown transforming from her original form back into the preschool teacher form with a devil tail, indicating that she didn't actually reincarnate into this world but found a way to travel to the world where Ooma was residing.
That might be her secret in this version too, but it might be something completely different since both versions are very different.

Becoming a girl so you finally have the ability to move towards your goals after putting them off for years? Ooma really is trans lol

Biologically yuri is good enough for me, like Kashimashi.

I might be remembering wrong but wasn't Hazumu basically just a trans girl?

I think Hazumu checks the boxes for being trans but I think she checks more boxes for being non-binary if anything.

100% giving non-binary person who's been performing gender the whole time. Loving this. Also the art is super cute!!

Have you ever been so anxious about confessing your love that you became a demon lord? I wish I could accomplish that much through procrastination. A heck of a talent.

Also yeah, major enby vibes continue. (I've known enbies that consider themselves under the trans umbrella and enbies that don't want to be, so... Not saying trans, but any enbies that want to be included are absolutely welcome by me.)

I always forget about lesbian sheep being real and literal until someone else mentions it. Gives me a good laugh.

Actually I think it's a myth sadly, but on the upside it means lesbian ewes are for sure mounting each other like crazy. I think we could all learn something from them

There's one thing I don't get. This person has been in their current body since it was two, and they decided to commit to it back then. So why now are they still going "Oh, I better do this teenage girl thing to better understand teenage girl-ness"? They've had the same amount of normal growing up being a present-day girl as all their peers, they should already know what they're doing (well, as much as any teenager does).

As an introvert, I also had that "so that's what typical teenage girls are like". Things like girls going to the bathroom together or wearing matching outfits was a mystery for me. Like, do you call each other to plan what to wear the night before? Why?

I feel like that "as much as any teenager does" is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
