Actually it already finished volume 1. The translation is what's way behind, likely because they were waiting for the complete volume to be released so they could use the uncensored pages.

I actually really like that depiction of the MC's feelings. It's such a real depiction of this kind of feeling of betrayal, and it hits really hard. Not an overblown, like, "uwaaah i'm so betrayyyyed I hate her forever now." but like an "oh. that's how it is." and just a lot of feelings that are impossible to sort through. That feeling of suddenly, instinctively closing yourself off and going cold, while all these feelings swirl inside you. And the disappointment, too.

Just went ahead and read the LN and… it made me way more excited for the manga updates. This series pokes the right brain cells for me.

The romance is genuinely pretty cute and the side couple of the two friends is something I genuinely wasn’t expecting. Knowing where the series is going makes the first few chapters a lot more bearable

The smut is… pretty trashy and indulgent, but in that fanfic, “there’s only one bed” kind of trashiness. What can I say, I’m a sucker for it. When the premise for Volume 3 is that they’re literally living together while Mari’s mom is in the hospital? This is the kind of plot convenience that ive been missing from my yuri smut! It’s great!

Also, finally started reading this and got sucked in enough to sneak ahead and finish reading Volume Two. Very cute ending, their confrontation in the bar is sweet and hilarious.

But also, I got way too distracted from the main story by goddamned Karen. Holy shit woman, keep your fucking pants on. Two 14 year-olds, at the same time!? And the author just throws that in as an aside and moves on? The manga should have a spinoff series: a plucky young journalist hears rumors about this lesbian porn actress running a bar where she lures in minors and seduces them. She goes to the vice squad, but the only one in the corrupt force who believes her is a jaded veteran just weeks from retirement. After many struggles and some fun banter, they finally catch their mark and put her away, thus saving yuri forever.

That bumped me too in the LN, and it's basically breezed past. Like, I get that the whole story has kind of a loose take on concepts like "consent" and "reasonable boundaries," but it's OK because it's fun and smutty and everyone is enjoying themselves whether they realize it or not...but the Karen stuff is wild.

Like...Aya warns Marika about her and it's kinda like, "Aww, she's looking out for her girl and maybe a little jealous" but then it's like, "no, seriously, that woman is a child predator, stay the fuck away from her, holy shit." It's a little weird that a story that's all about how lesbian relationships are valid and shouldn't be dismissed has so many prominent lesbian characters be so problematic.

It's worse than that, the other girl is still in middle school. And it started a year ago. I think the thing that squicks me the most, though, is how s*x-obsessed said middle schooler is. Sex positivity is cool and all, but holy hell not at that age.

On the subject of Karen and the bar scene, it also bothered me in another way. Karen is portrayed as this mentor figure giving life advice for Aya to navigate her relationship with Marika. But the advice she gives is, like, "str8 girls have different values, to them it's not normal to have multiple casual sex partners, so try to see it from her view". Hello??? Aya isn't actually interested in casual sex, she just went along with it because YOU pressured her into it. Why do you think you're qualified to give this advice when you're the cause of the thing you're saying is the problem, Ms predator lady??
