Hell yeah Tomoe! good on her for warning Ayano not to trust Takahiko too much even if he seems like the best deal she can get.

After all Tomoe has seen him drop his pretense, he's happy to let Ayano do what she wants so long as he remains confident she'll give it all up by the time they get married. And with her acting like this, I don't think he'll remain confident of such things.

I was legit on the edge of my seat reading the chapter X_X I have no idea how Ayano is going to get out of that whole situation, seems like running away somewhere with Tsubaki is the only option she has at this point, but there's only so much two lone women could do in that era... I'm really looking forward to the next chapters in any case, the author has done a great job of hooking me in.

Quick heads-up the series is gonna be on break this month. Seems to be going at a “2 months on, 1 month off” cadence, so it should be back in October. SheepD-sensei had to put the most drama before a break month D:

In chapter 10 it feels like Takahiko and his divorced sister have some kind of connection, my gut feeling says it’s more than a brother and sister relationship stemming from the way the father is.

I’d envision a route could play up here where Ayano marries him as a business marriage so he and the sister and Ayano and Tsubaki can have their own relationship.

Would certainly fit the era.

Ch 13 felt... not quite rushed, but definitely pushing ahead fairly quickly. I wonder if we're only going to see a small handful of chapters after before a wrap-up. Feels like we're heading into the resolution.

I had the same thought. Too bad, I really enjoy it so far.

I was promised a slow burn. That was a fast burn.

Hopefully since she could see and knows the building well she just got the one without her glasses to safety and is using the fire to escape in secret. Yes. This is what I’ll tell myself…

If Tsubaki dies, the entire story will be finished. If the next chapter is not the final one, then we will most likely to have five more.

months later and i returned to this manga just to find a historical fire that potentially ends it all or restarts everything anew :)
