awesome read, thank you for sharing it. i just finished after catching up with this manga too. i already felt that it calls in a lot of very classic old yuri cliches (obvious one being the "good girl" in difficult circumstances x bad news ephemeral beauty), but the extra context about women's self identity in the time period adds a lot.
(also, honestly, the book it discusses just sounds like an incredible read. the plotline with kudou they describe hit me like a truck remembering my own teenage friendships. feeling heartbreak over someone else's loss of individuality sure is an emotion! especially when you admired them.)
back to the manga in question though, i'm guessing it's leading to tragedy? that's what every single flag and cliche is pointing to, so i'm curious to see if the artist will take that route. because there's also the option to subvert all of it, but we'll have to wait and see how it plays out i guess. excited to read more :)
