To think, less than a year ago I discovered this manga and proclaimed it one of the best, most original sci-fi stories I'd read in many years. And now it's gone without even a proper finish. Heartbreaking.

the light novel is way better

Criminy...Is anyone else sympathising with Fuyu's husband?

Time to bring back one of my previous comments: "What a Bitch!"

He's basically like one of the few good men of yuri stuff, where you're just like...damn dude.

(he gets a nice little happy ending dont worry)

I mean, all we know about the sister so far is she’s a divorcee who frequently (at least as far back as the flashback in chapter 7) has threesomes with a female prostitute and a baron’s wife, so I’d be a little surprised. …But it is manga…

I much prefer the interpretation that he’s a himedanshi. He saw his gay sister’s marriage fall apart and wants to be sure he supports both her and his gay wife the best that society allows. But he gives off some bad vibes so I’m not sure it’ll work out quite that cleanly. Especially since there seem to be several women fighting for Tsubaki’s attention. The sister may well see Ayano as a rival.

I can see it, but he can also be someone who sees it as mutually beneficial. Solve their financial worries while also viewing himself as an altruistic hero, giving into a lavender marriage

yeah I don't know what the other person is thinking, this is more likely setting up future things happening. Just because the girl realizes OH SHES HOT doesnt mean the manga is ending. If anything, considering the mangaka, it's probably to just get the relationship drama out of the way first for increasing hot under the collar stuff so they can go to the plot.

I also wouldn't take a brand new series as yuri hime just axing things left and right either. If anything, this is them flexing new financial power with how many licensed manga have been getting anime adaptations lately (and the runaway success Watanare's been for them and the publisher)

so like she's a serial cheater and now child rapist? Man I thought the darkest Yuni got was hate sex

well, they'd be an adult nowadays as they were a college student. In the west you wouldn't consider a 21 year old a child. It says in the TL note that this was when the age of majority was 22.

prequel to what? guys give us some links T^T

The manga "I love you so much, I hate you." It's been serialized forever

isn’t this just the yuri version of “super attractive perfect girl ends up with antisocial loner whose sole redeeming quality is that they are somehow the first person to ever show basic kindness to the girl”

kinda, but the fact that the MC is just burning out actual literary references probably shows that she's rather book smart, just doesn't like being around people.

you know i was gonna respond to your comments but then i went and re-read the whole thing and check this out: i think the stupidest thing of them all is how she rejects the miso tako soup that the girl cooks for her and then she snaps and gets this flashbacks about her family offering her the soup or something like that but get this: SHE'S THE ONE WHO MENTIONED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. she said her family did it that way and that it was pretty good (you can go and check it out yourself, page 14) and then it turns out that's some kind of traumatic memory from her past like what??? if it was so bad why did she mention it?
you can't deny that's contradictory at least (and lazy writing)

The point wasnt the miso soup, the point was that she triggered her because she said words that triggered memories of her estranged relationship with mother, born from that desire of placing an image upon her that doesn't really exist.

When the bunny ears were on top of her folded clothes and on her head in the bath, I thought for sure there was something supernatural going on. Very confusing. Fine story once I stopped expecting it to go that direction.

I think its because of rascal dreams that anytime I see anything with a bunny girl I think something weird is going on

TL;DR few pages of trauma dump at the end doesnt justify/explain a problem that was never hinted or shown at all, everything was normal throughout the story and then a problem is created and solved right at the end, which make it a bland attempt at adding depth to a basically SoL one shot

also its called magical realism, a writing form that has been popular for a very long time, and a very good use of one for a short story

Oh that's some world building starting to occur.

Honestly even though I like this story in general, I'm very pissed off by the constant lack of consent in this story. Like these two isekai'd girls just got dragged to this world and their summoner simply "decided" they need to carry out their duty properly before they can ever return (I'm sorry who tf are you?). And Eldora (the second princess, god I hate her SO much) also repeatedly decides things on her own, ignoring and belittling her Saint's will, even (and especially) on things like marriage. WTF? Does marriage means differently in that world? What do you mean by "I just unilateral decided that we're getting married"? I've only saw this kind of "marriage" in situations when one of them is bought from a human trafficker.

also welcome to marriages before WW2 lol. The idea you married for love is an extremely modern phenomena

this is so wholesome and so inherently fucked and fucked up at the same time lol

Also I feel like with the Io thing, interest in her would soar but I think that's diving deeper into the parasocialness of it all and not really flowerchild's game with this manga other than putting Io through the bottom ringer

But I guess to answer some questions from the drama:

Yes, it all makes sense in context and it looks like they're trying to fill out backstory in these early chapters that didn't come til much later. It's gonna be interesting to see them try to do this when we essentially just finished episode 1 in 5 chapters. Is it gonna be 5 chapters per episode or, because that's gonna be like 80 chapters and if monthly, close to 7 years.

But to help people on the fence. Fuyu is from a power family and awkward as hell and doesn't quite know how to people. Itsuki is a dogged shoujo protagonist and under threat. Yes, it gets better. Yes, they're both morons and hypocrites a lot. It's endearing. The manga also can't convey how bone-meltingly sweet the way Itsuki's actress says 'Fuyu'

Yes, we need the idiot couple tag (also kinda sad they didn't make Fuyu shorter. It fits her so much more in the later parts of the drama)

l kinda assume this is meant to be "ice queen" who is secretly doing nice things (like giving a pregnant woman effectively paid time off, sorta?), but it just comes across ... badly.

You know, even knowing later stuff that hadn't occurred to me but lmao this actually checks with what happens later

Fuyu went and got married and had a child, but even the thought of Itsuki having a partner while Fuyu wasn’t here counts as cheating? How does that work exactly?

it's uhh way more clear later, but she thinks Itsuki cheated on her WHILE they were dating
