Weirdly enough, this reminds me quite a bit of Adachi and Shimamura, had they taken a completely different route after high school. Having to bury a large part of yourself and live a life that doesn't really suit you to conform to the ''norms'' really sucks doesn't it (^^) Makes me really grateful that I was able to be myself and do the things I wanted to do for most of my adult life, not everybody is so lucky.

IMO, the romantic setup has been pushed too far at this point to just put on the brakes at the last minute and have Mitsuki pat Aya on the back and call her BFF. That would be incredibly anticlimactic, and I can't imagine the author being this tone-deaf. We're getting some version of a prom date in the end.

I can definitely relate to trying way too hard to project a certain image, only to end up giving the wrong impression in the end :P At least they got to have an open hearted conversation and to clear everything out, that sadly doesn't always happen in real life !
