I am not sure what it is, but from what little details we glimpse in this chapter, I get a feeling that the world-building in this series will be solid and competent.

Great first chapter, really hooks readers in, doesn't even feel like 82 pages. it really gives Dowman Sayman Normality and Monsters vibes (for some reason?)

Liked the first chapter a lot. Do we have an author statement or something regarding the Yuri tag or is it just vines?

just gonna set expectations here: this is yuri along the lines of early otherside picnic or something like watatabe. so if youre ok with that degree of gay youre clear, but understand that this is a plot centric story with veeeery slow burn romance.

I haven’t read either, but good to know it’s actual yuri. Plot centered + slow burn wlw romance is a treat for me

As a side note, the kanji for east (東) is symmetrical, and the one for west (西) is pretty close to symmetrical, too... wonder if that's relevant to them being reversed, since most things in that garden are stated to be symmetrical (mirrored?) on both sides.

The lone wolf professional and the annoyingly carefree busybody she can't get rid of is a good dynamic; hard to go wrong with it. I'm not crazy for the character designs but otherwise the drawings are high quality. I enjoy the concept of places cursed through malevolent design; it's something that comes up in Otherside Picnic too.

I like the TL notes, but speaking as a guy who reads my manga on a laptop and, in fact, does not own a cell phone, these QR code "links" don't do much for me.

On Nadeshiko's name, I imagine one intended resonance is that the character comes off, except when she's actually doing violence, as something of a "Yamato Nadeshiko" -- very ladylike traditional Japanese young lady.
