Not keen on this, first the guy earns zero sympathy for his sob story. "Huhuh, I have a strong sex drive, so I'm gonna cheat on my girlfriend and cause her to frequently go get drunk and vent in a pub. Because I cherish her, of course."

He's an idiot and insensitive. Worthless as a boyfriend and as a friend. What exactly was the takeaway of this chapter ?

The worst part is that, with how Midori has been acting so far, it's very much on the table that the author wants this story to end up with a huge bait and say "he was actually a nice guy all along, so they got together again". If I wasn't dumb, I'd drop this until the rest of the chapters are released, and we know how it ends.

Well, that was unexpected.

We already knew this guy to be scummy, and this chapter stablished him also to be a crybaby.
At a MINIMUM (and that minimum would be by playing Devil's advocate, asuming his sorry tale is -against all common sense- actually true, and that he just don't realize how idiotic his actions were) he has a HUGE comunication problem for not talking out that stuff with her. The MOST LIKELY scenario is however his sory tale being just a self-told lie to self-justify he thinking with his crotch.
The takeaway of the chapter seems to be the breakfast of page 94. Err... sorry, couldn't resist. Seems to be a set-up for future interactions.

I was laughing all the way through that.

While yes I agree Baba is basically a scumbag, a manchild, but why was Midori kinda encouraging it?
I am still hung up on the part in chapter 2 when she said that she kinda accepted Baba being useless with women and she would just do a comedy routine of punching him and being happily married. What am I missing here?

What was the point of this chapter 3 lol? Why did the author make me read the stupidest reason ever for cheating on your gf? Why is Midori getting dinner with his nasty ass?

I want to believe the cheating bf won’t show up again and the plot can advance in a meaningful way but this chapter doesn’t give me much hope.
I think the author just has a weird view on heterosexual relationships. In their other series, I remember they made the main characters watch het porn to understand men and tolerate them or something. I’m not really sure what it means exactly but its giving “boys will be boys” and “men are awful but i’ve drank the comphet kool-aid”.

I don’t know if this is really yuri lol. Or maybe just not my type of yuri.

I feel that Midori just grew complacent with being stuck for him, until it became too much and she realized that while she likes Ex-Boyfriend she just doesn't love him in a romantic sense anymore. They can be friends, yes, but she knows that he's not dating material.
In fact I get the feeling that Midori is just complacent in general about most things, maybe its her overall attitude, I don't know.

With that said, Ex-Boyfriend is a little shit. He has a high sex drive but doesn't tell Midori because he thinks he can break her? That's just a excuse, come on. I really do hope this manga doesn't end in bait, but I don't have high hopes.

... I mean, that's pretty much the takeaway? Why would it need to be anything else?

I feel like half the comments are acting like the story endorses this guy's behaviour, while in reality he got his head bashed in, and even in this chapter the brother pretty clearly pointed out his faults.

The idea if boyfriend was interesting, but execution is meh for now. Not because he is a scunmy person.... but because he is unlilable and uninteresting as a character

100%. She has no intentions of going out with him again and he accepts their not being together romantically. I think if anything this chapter was meant to show that he cherishes her as a loved one to protect and care for (no matter how shitty he is at that job) moreso than requiring her to be his romantic partner. He's fine if they're broken up but was upset that he'd never see her again as a friend. He was even fine envisioning her dating someone but was worried about the "future guy's" being an ass. The brother showed him (or reminded him) that there are other close relationships besides dating and that she is laid back and only doesn't want to date him ever again.

He'll stick around as a friendly (albeit messy) figure. If anything, I'd say this chapter did it's best to suggest that he won't be a serious relationship threat moving forward but also to make us wonder about their background. Something is odd there and why does he feel the need to protect her so badly? I guess it's possible that changes in the future but I don't see that sticking even if it happens. This chapter reaffirmed her decision to break up.

Nobody mentioned it yet which is curious because I think it's an important point: after being dumped by Midori, the first thing BF-san did was grab his phone and call his (many) lovers to come to his side and comfort him by means of wild sex.

Too bad for him that the girl who was with him at the bar (when Kyouko snapped) has obviously spread the juicy gossip around; and all his cheating partners sensibly decided to stay clear from the awful break-up mess going on.

A story doesn't usually give this much attention to some random antagonist. If they get a background story expounded like this, chances are it's indeed meant to "redeeming" in some sense. That's not saying it's endorsing what he's doing, but it's certainly saying "there's something there".

Worst recent case I remember is some fantasy adventure manga where some princess committed genocide against the heroine's people and the reader very clearly was meant to forgive her because daddy treated her badly and she knows better now ...
... obviously, this is not comparable; but a disconnect between an author "I like this character" and the audience "I hate them" and the story development thus not feeling satisfying is not exactly uncommon.

When he said "I need to protect her from any scumbag!" was Ooh, like you? you fucking piece of shit... damn that was stupid, better keep him in a safe distance, he's the kind that will get in trouble again and again and you wouldn't want to burden yourself with that.

What the fuck is this bullshit? So was cheating on her out f consideration? And THAT is what's supposed to draw sympathy from us to him? What kind of idiot writter comes up with this? Suddenly this story wnet down the drill if that's the case.

This Author is just incapable of writing a good story, same with their other series, my sister's crush or whatever. Nonetheless the first volume is popular enough in Japan so what do I know :')

Damn thats a pretty harsh comment dont you think? I mean if you don't like the authors writing that's fair enough. I think the main charm of this authors stories for me is how there are flawed characters that have to slowly figure out their shit. Very entertaining but not for everyone. Also, was it really necessary to send this 6 times?

I agree. Sometimes people seem incapable of giving criticism or expressing their preferences without attacking the authors or being a bit dramatic.

Also, if it's like me, I bet they submitted their comment but got a "the site is down" screen. I think if you keep refreshing on that screen it duplicates your posts. Maybe they didn't notice.

Well, I'm not convinced. Unless you consider the fact they don't intend to cut all contact some sort of "redemption".

It's certainly true he's not going to be a "random antagonist", and is probably here to stay (and I'll point out once more he's on the cover, and so is the brother :P). If someone doesn't like that, then I guess fair enough.

Two explanations.
Either those women who are his occasional sex partners are in it for the fun of it and don't have time for him when he's a sobbing mess and majorly unfun...
Or they saw him as a super macho alpha man who cheats as much as he wants without consequences—bcs his steady knows he's too manly for just one woman—and the breakup scene at the bar totally ruined that image forever.
