'need' is downplaying how horrible it would be. Will drop this series if she did anything like that; anything above even contemplating doing it.

It would tell us that she is controlling, and a bunch of other bad stuff. Which from what I've read would go against her character.

It also goes against the tone of the story, and it is very wrong. It is uncomfortablly close to objectification.

I think it is just purfume. Tho, even if so, I would still think the author did slightly cheap emotion pulling here.

It is not just about what a love potion can do, but what the attempt itself signifies in the first place.

It could be morbidly funny in the right context, or if you are into drunk reading or something. It is more appropriate for other types of content, but not this.

I don't think there's any emotion pulling at all here. There's no way you can look at this page and take it seriously, right? It would defeat literally the entire point of the story if after 50 chapters the conclusion to their romance arc was "Elsa drugs Evie". I'd wager this is either setting up an internal dilemma for Elsa, or Hijinks™.

A love potion. Was not expecting that. TBH she doesn't need it as they both have feelings for each other it's just not fully understood yet for the both of them so I hope it's actually just snake oil and coloured water so she looks like a jackass if she tries it. I always love in stories when they try love potions and it's just a complete hoax.

BDSM Hijinks? On principle the risks are too high. You do not put that on someone. Hijinks by drugging other people around Evie? Similar problems to just drugging her.

I can only speak for myself, but what I'm saying is this creates zero tension for me because of the tone of the manga. I can't believe for a second that this will be used seriously. Is it possible the author could throw 50 chapters of fluffy romance into the garbage? Sure, it's possible. I'll give them a little more credit than that until I see it happen, though.

I mean, it's easy to say this, but I feel like most people presented with an actual factual love potion would at least think "what if...". At any rate, it's a common trope I've seen where a love potion or similar is introduced just for the character to commit to not using it after considering it.
