this manga is currently the only series i'm looking forward to reading. it isn't shy to talk about different sexualities outside of standard lesbianism, which i really appreciate! the translators did a really good job summarizing and explaining too, they're short and easy to understand :) thank you for uploading!

Well this just goes off the rails as soon as Matoi leaves this small, sleepy town, doesn't it - million of different new characters, confessions, suicidal backstories and who knows what else... I kinda preferred it when it was more relaxed :P

I kind of wish they did not explain the labels so directly. I don't want it to get educational and preachy like a few other manga. Just let readers see and understand? It's obvious what the MC is if she feels romantically attracted but not sexually.

Welp, looks like my predictions were right. That being said, I still don't really think Yoriko is ace but that it is about the scars. At the same time, I also do think, even if she didn't have the scars as an excuse, she'd still be mostly disinterested in sex. In a way, I'm reminded of the indifference Ryoji Kaji felt towards Asuka, in Evangelion; an older person who's mostly disinterested and indifferent towards what's basically a kid who's fallen in love with them.

Oh my god she didn't get consent before kissing (how rare in a manga), we really need to cancel this satanic work. seriously...

Just because it's a common occurence doesn't mean people have to like it.

Do my eyes deceive me? Demi rep? Split Attraction model? I might have to remedy my initial apprehension, this is going better than i thought. I like!

I gotta say, rather than look for a label just feel what you feel. I'm a basic 'het' but i still recognise I've got other parts in me (mostly) hidden away.

This is sorta how I feel too. Loving the representation, but it's too on the nose for my tastes since I don't like it when chapters end up becoming info dumps and takes you out of the story.

But on the other hand I know that sometimes author's need to make it as blunt as possible since there are so few stories that go into the asexual spectrum that this story might be the first exposure a lot of people have to this topic. So it's better to educate someone about it right away.

So yeah sorta mixed feelings about how it was handled, but still enjoying the representation.

Kinda hope it's gonna be represented beyond just the info dumps, but in the drawings the story and all, not just in explanation wording. When there's info dumps like that I'm always worried about "well now they're gonna promply forget about all that shit, no need to show it if you've told it right? I hope it doesn't go that way

Ohh, never expected to see a manga discuss sexuality so openly. I am hooked!

this is exactly what I have been wanting in yuri manga. queer women being, like, actually queer, with community and frameworks and everything. And it feels so grounded. This is such a cute manga, I love it.

I thought it was hilarious! fwoomph on both ends. I am surprised, I thought Rio would be a bit slower about it, have more than one dinner not-date, y'know?

Predicted outcome: anti-ship missiles on both ends.

Twist outcome: relationships on both ends.

Though Tokyo seems more likely (Matoi has someone to get over) than Yuriko (if she didn't accept Matoi, why would she accept a stranger middle schooler... unless it turns out she swings that way.)

Anyway, thank you translator, and please keep it coming!

So. Rio was indeed interested, but got hit by an anti-ship missile. Imouto was 'just' being invasive, I guess. Though I wonder what would have happened if Yuriko reciprocated interest. Predicted outcome mostly correct, though I didn't guess imouto was just playing around.

Instead we got setup for spectrum infodump, "As you don't know, Matoi". I'm cool with it, someone's got to do educational representation.

It's kinda the double edged sword of representation in media at present. You either keep it subtle and get criticised for not going far enough, or state it outright and risk being called an infodump. At the very least, I think the infodump method works for this series since the protagonist is someone who is very much confused about her sexuality and has thus far only had a random TV show for guidance (which, as a reminder, was before she met Yuriko) .

gonna be honest here the people calling this an infodump have just the singularly lowest standards I've ever seen this is like 10 sentences at most and it's all relevant to their conversation, that's not an infodump that's a realistic conversation when you're queer and don't quite know how yet.

I may come off a little rude here but like, come on

Nah, Girl, you are neither aromantic nor asexual. What you are has a name, and it's called a late bloomer.

Actually, this is exactly why you shouldn't try to diagnose yourself, but rather let a doctor/specialist do it. Because be it medicine or psychology, most people will get it wrong. Also asexual people are rare. Most people have some kind of sex drive, sometimes weak, sometimes suppressed, but nothing at all is just very rare. Thinking that you are asexual, without even trying to date is... well you're likely mistaken.

First of all, asexuality is a spectrum, you don't have to be completely devoid of sexual attraction to be on it. Being demi or fluctuating counts too.

Second, I don't appreciate how you pathologize being ace here. You don't need to be "diagnosed" with being ace, it's not a disorder. Or would you say the same about being gay? No? Bc that would be fucked up, right? Well, it's the same with being ace.

"Late bloomer" my ass, go be acephobic elsewhere. She's demi, likely demiromantic asexual. Acespec people are more common than you think, and saying

Thinking that you are asexual, without even trying to date is... well you're likely mistaken.

is like saying "Thinking that you are gay without even trying to date the opposite gender is... well you're likely mistaken"

Alos need to stop acting like they're the default and that acespecs need to "prove it", it's no different than cishets doing it to other queer people.

Personally, I don't like it when they start giving definitions in the middle of the story. it feels awkward.

I'm glad Matoi's sister was just trying to get a reaction out of Yuriko and that everybody seems to find Matoi adorable. Here's hoping for some jealousy from Yuriko's side during their date.
