I wanted to like this, but I just don't feel this one.

Calling this original would be a stretch, there are quite a few manga out there where the protagonist meets a past version of his/her love (Ashita Dorobou would be one), and this one feels very rushed, and the time travel just feels forced.

I'll keep an eye on the next chapter, maybe it'll win me over, but so far It just feels like an inferior copy.

You understand why it took me 9 months to do that chapter, lol.

It's never pleasant when something you're working on is shat on at every turn.

I don't know when I'll do the next chapters, but I'll surely do, because not finishing something is against my work ethics.

Absolutely. This is quickly devolving into standard Shoujo manga logic, complete with the insufferable jerk as the ML. God, I hope the author doesn't want to take Yoh and Ren sempai's "relationship" very far. Like ideally he should be gone in the next chapter...

Hmm. If you're in a pretend relationship and you have a tongue match with another girl, is that cheating or pretend cheating...? Call me a purist of sorts, but the wishy washy-ness of the MC is starting to irk me. If it doesn't go the good communicative poly route, I might just drop and come back to see what the ending is.

In a harem manga, it's either that, or the MC has to be suuuper dumb (to the point of not being able to understand when she gets confessed), otherwise the whole setup collapses, and she just ends up dating with whoever was the first to confess.

To keep it as a harem, all five girls need to have something that stops them from becoming a couple with Mei. I can accept that Mei, wants to accept her confession from the heart and not just in the heat of the moment (although she does consider just going with the flow). Of course that's a time-limited excuse, but I don't think the manga wants to drag it out too much, once the other girls confess, it's going to change to "Ok, now who should I go out with?"

I have just picked this up and it feels like a well written train wreck. It's looking like a what a scums wish should have been. Not my thing either way but as train wrecks happen, I can never seem to look away.

I can always respect and author that's willing to do justice to this kinda story.

Scum's Wish teased a lot of interesting relationships, only to never committed to any of them, and end up with the most vanilla, most bland thing possible. Something mainstream manga authors seemingly love to do. They tease the big "forbidden" themes, sometimes even in the title, and then of course never actually commit to any of them.

Brides of Iberis at least properly commits to its themes, but given that, this was written by the same author as Octave, it had a snowball's chance in hell for a good ending. And that's ok. The ending perfectly suits the themes of the series, and it's how realistically a story like this would usually end.

But I always felt that trying to make and ending "realistic" often get in the way of making it "great". There are no endings in real life. No definite end points, no fast forward 10 years, no happily ever afters. And the unexpected does happen all the time. So I always felt, that even for a manga cemented in realism, the ending was the one place, where that restraint should be a lifted slightly. To make an ending that is more than "all as expected", to end the series on a high note. It doesn't have to be a happily ever after (and in fact it shouldn't), just allow yourself to make and ending that is merely plasuble, but noth the most common.

All is to say, yeah totally wanted them to end up together, I kind of have a thing for morally fallen characters, who instead of taking the moral high ground (like Mitsuki did), end up on a morally questionable path, and stay there.

BEST ENDING! The author did very well to end this in this way; I couldn’t have asked for anything else

Really? I sure could! I really, really wanted Nanami and Mitsuki to end up together! Would this fit in with the theme of the manga? Hell no! Had I been very happy, if it were to end that way? Hell yes!

Nice! This feels like a Yuri version of School Rumble, and I'm all for it! So far all the characters seem to be quirky and interesting.

considering that Misa literally tells Yoh that "it's fine to express your feelings in any form. Even if you're unable to put them into writing... They're clear enough to me." Gotta say this really makes me believe that Misa on some level knows Yoh is in love with her.

Nah, if she knew, she would not tell her constantly how much she loooves Ren sempai. Even if she pretended to not know, I think she would be a bit more considerate towards Yoh. Nah, Misa-s advice is basically aimed at herself, she is the one, who wants to express her feelings (towards Ren), but can't. She just gives the same advice to Yoh, that she'd want to hear.

The ending kind of bummed me out but I still enjoyed the series. The author's note was very sweet and I am happy they got the opportunity to tell the story the way they wanted to

My thoughts exactly. Seeing them still live in separate felt like a punch in the gut. Asexual or not, we see that they both seek a kind of intimacy, even if its not the sexual kind. So seeing that they are still not there, that is kind of a bummer.

Still, I really enjoyed the series, and I hope to read other stories from the author in future. Preferably with girl x girl romance again.

So, after she left the future, everyone just kinda fogot that she existed at all, right?

As usual, nothing makes sense right up to the end. At least that is consistent with this manga. Not that I'm complaining, I liked this nonsense all the more!

Well, that sounded an awful lot like a confession...

I feel the cheating tag will be more fitting then the polyamory on the long run. Somehow I doubt that its all sunshine and roses with that couple. Just wasn't the vibe I got.

Nah, Girl, you are neither aromantic nor asexual. What you are has a name, and it's called a late bloomer.

Actually, this is exactly why you shouldn't try to diagnose yourself, but rather let a doctor/specialist do it. Because be it medicine or psychology, most people will get it wrong. Also asexual people are rare. Most people have some kind of sex drive, sometimes weak, sometimes suppressed, but nothing at all is just very rare. Thinking that you are asexual, without even trying to date is... well you're likely mistaken.

"Late bloomer" my ass, go be acephobic elsewhere. She's demi, likely demiromantic asexual. Acespec people are more common than you think, and saying

Being "asexual" is not a spectrum, at least that's not how most people use it. Its the very end of the spectrum, where sexual orientation is not even applicable. Otherwise you could just call them, straight, gay, bi or whatever. And like most edge cases they are very rare.

Thinking that you are asexual, without even trying to date is... well you're likely mistaken.

is like saying "Thinking that you are gay without even trying to date the opposite gender is... well you're likely mistaken"

Well, actually yes. I don't think you can completely rule out liking a gender without actually making an honest effort. Trying to date someone isn't the only way, its just the way I thought most applicable to Matoi. She could also just download a wide range of porn, and see what tickles her fancy - but I think that Matoi wouldn't do that.

Alos need to stop acting like they're the default and that acespecs need to "prove it", it's no different than cishets doing it to other queer people.

I don't expect anyone to prove anything, as I don't usually care how someone "identifies". But if someone - for the argument's sake - would want to know if a label fits her, before adopting it, then yes, I'd suggest going from the more probable options to the less probable ones.

But the reason I don't think Matoi is asexual, is because the story is perfectly set up for her to be wrong. The main conflict for Matoi is that she struggles to understand others or herself. From a narrative standpoint, she needs to overcome this conflict by learning about herself, and the people around her. And that works the best, when what she thinks she knows about herself is completely wrong. If she was right from the start, then there wouldn't be much left to learn for her, would it?

Swing and a miss, I wonder how this will get resolved

By time. She doesn't even know about her scars yet. She needs to take her time to slowly get closer to her, and her to open up. Honesty I love the story so far. Reminds me of Bloom Into You a lot (which is btw my all time favourite Yuri manga).

Like some mentioned before, I also think that main girl is reaching the point where she is going back to the (new?) future. The nearer she gets to that point she will slip more frequently between the past and her future. Like Schrödingers Cat, taking a superposition, being in two time points/possibilities at (nearly) the same time.
If her future was altered by her actions is another debate

Well, she didn't actually "disappear" from the future, since with the past changed the even that led to that likely never happened (or not resulted in time travel, since she no longer needs to fix the past), so yes, only here memories go back and forth, she actually exist in both places.

I think she's working in a different place now, her "atmosphere" feels a bit different, and it seems like her "old" self doesn't recognize her workplace, so its probably a different job, then what she had back then.

Wait, if she goes back to the future what will happen to the past self's psyche at that point in time? Will she just replace her old self, effectively killing her? Or will they kinda merge and be an amalgamation of both Nanas? Or will the author quickly gloss over this point and hope no one notices?

When she goes back into the future (in her not-really-dreams, since she's awake and can hurt herself), she's working normally, so she's aware of both what she was doing before (in the future), as well as what she did in the past. Basically, their memories will merge, and she'll remember both the old and the new history.

Plot twist idea: Nana and Seto continued their "poly" relationship even after Older Nana has disappeared, and now they have a harem in the future with all the previous club members seduced by them.

actual genius resolution, how did never see this coming????

Well. most authors do not dare to touch poly relationships with a ten foot pole (probably due to being afraid it'll be viewed as "immoral"), so this was unlikely as hell.

Although, in hindsight, this series already jumped the morality shark in the very first chapter, with a 25 yo. Nana smooching an underage Seto-sempai, and molesting her ever since, so this author clearly puts her story above such petty things (unlike some others, where guys ask for consent before kissing a girl, and underage characters refuse to drink even when offered).

I've been operating under the assumption so far that Baiser has more to her than her sadistic nature letting her go a bit wild. She loves magical girls and it stands to reason she doesn't really want them to lose, so I've always had it in my head that she's operating on some higher level of understanding of the things going on around her and realizes more than what our dumb black mascot thinks. I hope I'm on the right track about that, and there's not going to be a legitimate situation where she's 100% being used for her peculiar nature.

Oh, our black mascot is not dumb. He knows that Utena won't ever really hurt the Magical Girls, and that he can only push Utena so far. And Utena knows she's a leader in name only, but she makes the best use of the situation anyway

I love the part where Venalita suggests the "logical" thing to do (namely eliminating Tres Magica once defeated), only to be shut down by Utena. Usually Vena never tries to force Utena. He knows he can't. Instead he stirs up situations, where Utena must act in her role. This one is an exception and Utana is quick shut him down.

Although, that exchange with hindsight can also be read as Vena calling Sulfur's bluff, by suggesting they eliminate the other two, and Utena telling that he's fully aware of the bluff, but this is her show, and she's going along with it.

Despite the huge amounts of fanservice, this manga is waaay more cleverly written, then many out there.

What the hell is up with these people complaining about the non-existent "rape" in the story? Do you think rape victims would actually be casually chatting with the rapist afterwards like that or something? Even the characters themselves are like "we had completely normal sex, nobody was traumatized or anything", but the commenters here must insist every few posts that "NO, GIRL, OBVIOUSLY you were raped because that's how I see it" ¯_( ͠° ͟ʖ °͠ )_/¯

Everytime there is drunk sex, there is a commetn about consent. Honestly the problem with that is that every manga/doujin/os with Drunk and NSFW could fir in that description.

It some king of PC bull, no need to pay attention to it. Also just FYI, drunk sex isn't rape, if she gets drunk and makes a mistake, that's it. (Unless, you know, she's unconscious drunk. There are limits to everything.) You don't get to blame your mistakes onto others, by the magic of alcohol. Just like drunken driving, its still your responsibility.

Classic Kodama..

But how are you guys saying Mitsuki is horrible too? If we'll base on "Kodama" standard, then Mc is still normal.

She is not horrible, people are just tend to be over sensitive (PC bullshit and such). I loved these characters, and Mitsuki is absolutely relatable. "Anaerobic Love" remains my favourite from Kodama, but this is very good too!

I love how the magical girls who are clearly capable of flight succumb to a pitfall trap as soon as they enter the dungeon.

It can probably be explained by some magic logic like Alice setting the dungeon to cancel out flight ability or whatever, but I still think it's kinda funny.

Also I see that we've grown the list of hentai kinks featured in the series this chapter. Probably the biggest number that's been featured in a single chapter since they're playing with all three girls separately at the same time.

They were were not in flight mode, they were walking on the ground, and the floor closed above them, so its not like they could just fly back...

But yeah, its still funny, and that's the whole point: They are so out of their elements, they fall for the most obvious tropes. Even Sulfur, who usually plays the straight man.
