That's true, but on the other hand the trick to getting back into a good condition is doing things and Neeko had been refusing to do anything. The mom took it several steps step too far, but forcing neeko to do things isn't necessarily bad.

Part of the treatment for severe depression is getting people to get out of bed, take a shower, dress, make breakfast etc.

Professional help which is almost impossible to get in Japan. Even if you somehow circumvent the social stigma that comes from having it be known that a member of your family even has psychiatric issues, from what I gathered the field of psychiatry in Japan is seriously lagging behind most of the first world in terms of how well it actually helps its patients.

That, I believe is called 'Imposter Syndrome' which is a fairly common mental issue (I say issue, because it isn't technically classified as a disorder. But can be a symptom of other underlying mental health disorders) where someone is hounded by feelings of inadequacy, essentially believing themselves to be a fraud, with any actual skill written off as just being good at deception.

Neeko is struggling, but she's actually doing pretty well all things considered. going out at all when you are depressed is extremely difficult, and should be seen as a victory, even if it ended in a less than ideal way. it's progress.
