Therefore, this is a thread for all of you, who want to hear about the stuff you're looking for. And for people who want to encourage others to read something they may have missed.

Nezchan, I'm not clear on some details.

Are we supposed to recommend anything as long as we think is good? Because in that case the most popular series, like Yuru Yuri or Virgins' Empire, will get the most recommendations -- which will accomplish nothing, as everyone and their uncle has already heard about them. Or am I correct to assume that the idea is to focus on more obscure, less known series?

Also, do we limit the recommendations to series found right now in the Dynasty Reader, and leave out those series that were removed or have never been uploaded? Or is anything fine as long as it's yuri?

Well, the main focus is answering requests for recommendations with stuff you think is great and fits what they're looking for. So I don't know if we'll get constant responses for YY or VE or what have you.

But if you want to post something here out of the blue with a list of things you think are essential reads or whatever, I'm sure someone would appreciate it. After all, not everyone reads everything and it's easy to miss even stuff you think is universally known and loved.

It's fine if you recommend something that's off-site, by the way. Obviously it's easiest for people to find if it's something here, but maybe there's something on MangaDex we don't have, or something like Mage and Demon Queen that's hosted elsewhere. All that is fine, so long as it's not on one of the ripoff sites that we discourage linking to.

Took me a moment to decipher that this is the acronym for "I see what you did there". SMH at myself.

Ok so I'll go ahead and make some recommendations for the naive little lamb who comes to this site for the first time, knowing nothing of yuri manga.

My suggestion is to start with some series by Morishima Akiko! She's widely recognized as one of the best and most representative authors presently active, and you really can't go wrong with her.

If you want to read about schoolgirls (a staple of yuri), try Hanjuku Joshi. A 20-chapter manga series, I've read and reread it more times than I can remember. Find it on the online reader here:

If you want to read about adult women, try Romance Girls File. Or perhaps Office Romance: Women's Division. The former is a volume of short stories, the latter an ongoing series following a group of women who work at the same office (with the main character focus of the story shifting every couple of chapters). Anyway when I think of Mahou Shoujo the first thing comes to my mind is Sailor Moon by Naoko Takeuchi, which isn't in the Reader for obvious reasons, but anyway if you never read the manga (perhaps you've watched the anime but don't know the manga? many are like that) it's worth looking for it

It's pretty rare to find a yuri manga that has a straight guy who's best friends with the mc and doesn't try to flirt with her. In Bloom Into You there is Seiji Maki, but he is asexual and therefore not into anybody. I would love a manga that has a guy and girl who both talk about hot chicks and are friends. Is this too niche of a thing to look for?

Mage and Demon Queen is a webtoon where the main character is a girl who has a straight guy best friend with zero romantic interest in her and they are a fun duo. The guy also helps her later with a plan to help her confess to her crush, which backfires unfortunately.
