Committed relationships are a cultural thing, not a natural one.
"Commitment is not natural" and "Commitment is not a natural thing" have different meanings in my mind. Maybe I wasn't clear, and for that, I apologize. English is not my native language.
What I meant in this sentence is that committed relationships aren't something imposed by nature. Neither are non committed ones. Nature favors one scheme according to survival value in a time and place.
What imposes (deems it "superior") one scheme over the other, is culture.
Is that clearer?
