Ouch, that hurt! - mainly because I wasn't expecting something like that, at least not in this series …

I thought this was supposed to be a silly player gets girls everyday story, REEE.

This site is great: the comments are just as good as the mangas. Great chapter... it would have helped if this chapter was first instead of sixth to help readers understand the context behind MC behaving like she does in other chapters. So when’s next chapter going to be posted?

where is the drama tag when you need it...

More like Depressing as fuck

Death of child, especially a girl, in art is alway a thing that affect me more than it should...

It was sad but not "depressing". I don't see people getting continuously sad about this for more than 6 months straight.

oh...interesting, some insight (finally) into the MC. It still doesn't change anything though, because "make everyone cuter" is not the same as "go around and woo everyone"...
p/s: it is undeniable that young Touma-kun is cuter though (and so pureee, look at that big round innocent eyes >.<)

"make everyone cuter" is not the same as "go around and woo everyone"

After having seen "Girls become cuter when they are in love." or "You've become cute, are you in love?" in half of the romance series I've read... maybe Touma-kun is simply using a double attack of hair styling and brain chemistry to raise her efficiency.

Haha I like that train of thought

Part of me wishes Touma-kun's origin had remained a mystery

Because when you're unconscious and you're body under anesthesia , no mater how strong you're physically and mentally , you can't do nothing.

That's true, but research suggests that keeping an optimistic outlook can help one's chances of survival.

that's just bullsh*t doctors says trying not to depress the patient AND their families. you can obviously see that the doctor don't even believe what he's saying. and i know bullsh*t like being optimist while your sick won't definitly change anything because i knew people from my familly who were optimistic but you know what? sickness and cancer are stronger than pretty dump sh*tty optimism. that didn't prevent them from dying from grave sickess and being strong in your head and thing like that won't change a thing! you're lucky or you're not!

As both a doctor, and someone who had cancer, twice, get fucked and educate yourself some more. Of course it will not fucking save you on its own, it depends on the severity of the condition and the treatment you are getting, but it is one of the variables, and depending on diagnosis, it can be quite an important factor. I have people in my family who are still alive, almost two decades after being diagnosed, with the cancer under control (as in, still there, but not growing). Guess what they eliminated? Any and all sources of stress. And I really do mean all. House that is in their possession their entire life is causing them stress because they are being legally hounded by cousins over the land it was built on? Sell the house and move away. They applied the same logic consistently and managed to survive after all the doctors told them they should prepare for the worst.

as i said you are lucky or you are not! eliminate any sources of stress! yeah that easy to say! but there always IS a source of stress. sell the house and move away? good for you you have enouth f*cking money to do that! my family wasn't rich enough to do that. and you'r "important factor" didn't really change a think. i can understand that doctors try to confort families this way but the fact is here it didn't change ANYTHING for all the member of my family who got cancer all is based on luc. actually my godfather is dying from cancer. doctors just lied to him telling him he's going to be fine because he don't want to depress him. and you know what? you f*cking "important factor" don't change a thing. in contraries he's getting more and more sicker by days. what you're "important factor" can do for that? stop telling bullshit to you're patients especialy when you know there isn't hope all is luck and that's all if you're lucky enough then you survive. if life screw you then that's it.

The point is. Your attitude is important. If you lose hope, your body won't bother trying to heal either. Sure you won't just cure cancer on your own, but if you give up, there is higher chance your body won't resist it as much as it could. Also ever heard of placebo effect? People healing just because they believe they will? Our mind is a powerful thing. As for live example. My grandpa was in very bad condition but he was still doing ok-ish. But once doctor told him, there is no hope, he lost will to live and stopped doing anything. He quickly got worse and spend rest of his live in bed being taken care of until he died.

As we all know, scientific studies and clinical experience count for shit, it is down to "luck". If only I learned that in college, unfortunately, Luck In Treating Cancer was not a registered subject in my time. You are wasting your breath, Nev, some people are just stupid, and that is all there is to it. When one of my friend's (also a doctor) father (also a doctor) got cancer, from which he eventually died, his son bought entire books on how to motivate cancer patients, and was frantic and desperate about it because his father was a natural-born pessimist. It was so important to him to somehow get his father to be optimistic, what a fool. If only there was a moron such as yourself present to tell him to stop wasting time, since his father will either have luck, or he will not. Anyway, I am done with this.

Edit: Also, while my example was indeed somewhat tied to my class, you do not need to be rich to at least minimise stress. Emotional stances can be, to a degree, controlled. I never did anything as extreme as getting rid of my property to avoid stress, I just took the old-fashioned approach of avoiding to think about things that cause me stress. But I mean, I only successfully combated cancer twice and have a degree in medicine, not like I would know anything about it. It was probably just luck. But I am again taking the bait after saying I would stop, so this time enough for real. Gods, do people like you irk me something terrible...

(sigh) Guys, you're both right, and you're both wrong, and you both need to listen to what the other is saying.

as i said you are lucky or you are not! eliminate any sources of stress! yeah that easy to say! but there always IS a source of stress. sell the house and move away? good for you you have enouth f*cking money to do that! my family wasn't rich enough to do that. and you'r "important factor" didn't really change a think. i can understand that doctors try to confort families this way but the fact is here it didn't change ANYTHING for all the member of my family who got cancer all is based on luc. actually my godfather is dying from cancer. doctors just lied to him telling him he's going to be fine because he don't want to depress him. and you know what? you f*cking "important factor" don't change a thing. in contraries he's getting more and more sicker by days. what you're "important factor" can do for that? stop telling bullshit to you're patients especialy when you know there isn't hope all is luck and that's all if you're lucky enough then you survive. if life screw you then that's it.

Listen, I get how you feel, but that isn't "it". Human beings are complicated, and yes, luck is a big factor in cancer diagnoses. I lost my mom at a younger age than I should've. I get that you're hurting right now. But you need to understand that yes, outlook -does- change the prognosis. The research that shows that optimistic outlooks help is -real- and there are probably chemical and biological foundations for why it helps. Yeah, you can do everything right and fight as hard as possible and still lose to the dice of fate. But an optimistic outlook and will to fight has also been -proven- to improve your chances. That's how everything in life is, even though people are shitty at accepting that. You can do everything right and lose. That doesn't mean doing your best is pointless.

YOU need to step back and remind yourself that this person is dealing with the fact that someone they love is CURRENTLY in a deteriorating state. You're talking to someone who is in pain and is currently dealing with the helplessness and hopelessness of watching a loved one cope with a dangerous and debilitating disease that they can't do anything to help with. They're lashing out. Lashing back isn't going to help anything.

I feel like this cancer discussion has gotten not only way out of hand and personal, but quite a distance from anything portrayed in the manga itself.

If the participants could take it off-forum, maybe to the Discord or IRC, that would be appreciated.

I like this, Touma is a player and this is what they do, doesn't matter of their sex or preferences. If you don't agree with it, then I can see why some hate it. Chapter 6 I think is there to make you like her a bit more. But I see reading this thread is split into you like Touma or you don't. She's a plot device to the other characters stories.

The only time I really felt bad for anyone was Yuki who asked Karen (Chapter 2) out. I don't know just feels like Karen chose her as her second choice and just doesn't seem that into Yuki. Karen came off like a bit of a arrogant sod and really unlikeable. Besides that the only girl it seems Touma has feelings for was the one in chapter 6. The other's are just there for fun and romp around. Maybe the Nurse is the closet she has to any sort of feelings.

It’s been a while since I’ve visited this series. I see the comments have changed a bit since chapter 6.

Edit: Then again, no one has really commented since that chapter, so I’ll wait.

I bet people are upset that their precious yuri is being “corrupted” by Touma’s “impure” actions.

Touma has gotten herself a nice pair of sisters, I see. I wonder what their future holds, in terms of romance.
