And I thought the mother was just a huge jerk but no she's a straight up heartless bitch, and the manager is nothing more going to boot licker to the mother

I hate her mom and that basically rapey manager so much.

Ai just wants to be happy. She should just quit showbiz all together she needs to get away from the toxic so badly. I feel she should set up her own press conference without her shit mother and manager showing and bare all. Say how awful her mother is. Say the manager tried to rape her and that Misa isn't what their trying to portray. But yeah we can't have that, that would actually mean she would use common sense and logic.

That ending where Misa thought Ai left... Misa always says she can't love anyone but let's be real that worry and expressing how happy she was that Ai didn't actually run away from her is love.

At this point in the story shouldn't the toxic shit start shifting to be happy? Like my god this series can't stay this angsty forever lol

You know, I thought the boss liked Misa since she said it was “love at first sight” and she said she went easy on her before. It seems pretty harsh and unjustified to say she’s not just a spectacle and should be working when she has no clients anymore anyway and this situation isn’t her fault. Still, hiring a runaway is pretty messed up and she’s still a morally dubious head of a cabaret club at the end of the day… I at least thought she would fire Waka, but I assume Misa just didn’t say anything since she wants to beat her now… who knows though. Well, anyway, yeah, this continues to be pretty depressing so hopefully things get better soon and hopefully Waka does get fired or at least deal with the consequences of her actions soon.

I'm glad Misa knows the correct solution to that problem.

More needy Misa is cute, also how Misa didn't suspect Io at all and was only afraid Io would try to isolate herself from Misa to protect Misa. That's something I predicted as a possibility in the past.

In terms of the hidden face / mask theme, which we saw predominantly with Io and Waka, we are really getting Misa's finally. She was complaining to herself about that last chapter. This suggests some of her earlier internal monologues were bluster due to her fearing getting attached to someone.

Her denial levels by saying she might never love Io are off the chart when she is obsessing about Io constantly. Maybe this scare is enough for her to admit to herself what's going on.

I also thought Io might talk to the reporters to tell the true story, but it makes sense she ran. Her whole sense of self worth is tied up in acting. I think we might get to the point that she values being herself more than acting and will risk destroying her career to do that, but she still hasn't reached that level of self worth yet. Given she's supposed to be extremely talented, it's possible she can get a new manager and keep acting as long as she can deal with her evil mom somehow.

Segue into kinky plot-reflective unnegotiated yet fortunately seemingly always desired sex initiated!

I wonder how they're gonna deal with the complete collapse of their careers and incomes. It's like the whole world is set against them. Abusive mother and manager trying to make things worse. I'm not smart enough to see how they could survive. But at least they do have each other

I think since both their lives are kinda falling apart they might pull a 'running away where no one knows us'

And I bet her mother wouldn't hesitate to spin it into a kidnapping and get rid of Misa for good with it

Honestly the easiest way to win here is to make a porno. Just record them fucking and Io having a good time being "corrupted" and saying "I don't care about you anymore, mommy" or whatever. Let it all fall apart, go full fuck it route and corrupt. Io won't be back seen with her mother, her mother will finally free Io, and though their lives will be as good as gone, it won't really matter anymore. Her mother will now have no proof of kidnapping, Io gets to be with Misa and finally they get some shit money through selling porn. For the plan to work also there should be multiple films sold at the same time. Every paparazzi will eat it up and that's that, the end of Io.

They can always do what ex-convicts do: get an exploitative minimum wage job for a locally owned, single location restaurant. Eventually people would move on to the next latest thing and they could flip burgers in relative peace.

Realistically I don't think they would be able to save their careers, especially in Japan where reputation is important. Fiction is still free to find the way for a less likely option.

The meta option is an option too. Their appeal is proven by that we've got an unusually long running yuri manga despite it being from flowerchild. It would double to get the mom to leave them alone.

I hate that this is not even unrealistic, considering Misa went out of her way to low-key torture Io after being assaulted by Hase.
...For now I'll enjoy the switch up from 'aloof' Misa to needy Misa.

I like their writing too, but it ain't exactly the type fluffy high school romantic comedy that gets mass appeal.

Though this one feels like they toned it down several notches, with the age gap being between adults, main pair have a trending upward relationship in terms of emotional health, etc. I'm curious if it was the editor or flowerchild's idea.

Well this is nearing the length of Flowerchild's previous series, so we'll have to see how much longer this one runs but it might still be in the same ballpark.

Also I wish all Yuri regardless of Coming of Age, Adult, Wholesome, Edgy, so on got more funding. Instead there's Rent-a-Girlfriend that gets more manga chapters and anime seasons than 99% of romance series regardless of sexuality, regardless of edgy or wholesome, and so on lol

So wanna say love the art, toxic yuri, and the hot scenes are smokin' hot.
But it does seem that the story has written itself in a corner. Io's career was based on being seen as a pure, innocent actress. That's gone now. Misa's career was based on her presenting herself as interested in and available to men. That's gone now.
This story has a lot of real-world elements, so it can't just snap its fingers and offer a deus ex machina solution, because that would just make the whole story shallower, less meaningful. And it feels like there really isn't a clean real-world solution to something as career-ending as this.

I respect that the author had the guts to take this drama all the way to 11, but . . . I don't know. The initial appeal was the bdsm, and how closely/badly it adhered to responsible bdsm. Also, hot. But now it's become a drama, and lost the focus on the steaminess for real-world sweatiness and "oh-my-god how am I going to pay by bills" and "I don't know if I have a job/career/future', which is uh. Different.
