It has always been a continuation of the main storyline. It just changed publications and continued from there. This was also a super sweet chapter. I really love all the couples in this series. Glad its run well into the hundreds of chapters, with no end in sight. It's one of (if not) the longest-currently-running yuri manga, right? I don't know another that's going well into the 150+. It's also not a 4 pager.

If you look on MD, some Korean scanlator translated from the volumes and you can see that chapter 95, 97, 99 and 101 are 4 pagers that weren't posted on the Newtype website but are volume only.

Also, Mikanuji still uses the numbering of the "side stories" on the web version (1 to 51).

While "side stories" turned out to be a misnomer, there was no indication back then that it was going to fuse. Both were running in parallel. And now it's too late, I'm not going to move this to the "main series" (also, the volume version doesnt have any color).

There was an indication that it was a direct continuation at a new publication but it's understandable that it was unclear, so that's definitely not an issue.

I understand that merging the series is probably not possible now, but is there no way to change the name from "side stories" to something that communicates the situation better? I've met many who think the series stopped in the 90s or that these chapters are lesser content. As that comment showed, some are still a bit confused. If the platforms don't allow for name changes, I understand.

It's nice to have a couple of chapters where everyone is less of an asshole to each other and are relatively normal lovey-dovey couples. I think is nice that the story is ending soon and not being dragged to eternity but I feel like there is not enough chapter to give proper closure to all the couples.

Only one couple could use closure (student/teacher). All the others have been mostly settled or in a good place--just living their lives.

These last 4 chapters have been nice. Feels like we're easing into a nice conclusion for the series.
All I need to feel satisfied is a bit more romance from Shizuku and Saori.

Temporary Conclusion?

Aww heck, this hits me hard. An end of an era for yuri manga, really!! But despite the amount of threads the author attempted to gently conclude here, this ending felt well paced and, I would argue, is one of the strongest chapters of the entire series.

I remember being heavily put off by what I called "comedy violence" in this manga's early life (especially early in the "main" publication's run) and many other readers felt the same. To see none of that in this final chapter feels like such a growth, and made me realise the hitting and bruising changed as the series progressed, until it dissipated in its (almost) entirety. Big props to the mangaka for making that work in such a way that I came to notice its absence more than its presence.

The term used on the last page is ひと段落 which means "reaching a stopping place; settling down (before the next stage)"

So I guess she may reuse the characters if she feels so inclined in the future.

There's got 80 ish but 53 chapters , the author is taking painstakingly sweet time, and now abruptly ending it.

She have move things faster at least in the side stories. I would have been mad if Heke and Shinohara haven't officially started dating. Luckily we get to see their confession, quite early in the side stories.
