Well that's okay not everyone will love the current direction. Personally I really love the current events and progression for a variety of reasons.

I dunno, feels like you're the one who wants a boring story here. What purpose is there in Asumi only ever paying for sex with the girls? I want to see them get closer in a more intimate way.
Serina not being a sex worker any more doesn't mean she can't have sex with other people as she wants. She just removed a barrier to being able to see Asumi properly, since seeing your clients outside of work is a no-no. "Sex worker" isn't really a personality, so I don't understand your insistence that it somehow makes them their "own person" by working there.

3-4 years ago, she advised Ouka to quit working as a hooker and start a relationship with the client who developed feelings for her.

Which is what she seems to be going for now.

She seems to be uninterested in mingling with her fellow hookers, Mai has worked there for 3-4 years and they never talked, implying that she doesn't go out for drinks with them and they likely would've talked by now, if she were friends with either Sayaka or Jun.

As we've now learned, Serina doesn't mingle with her office coworkers either. Unusual, considering how common Izakaya culture (i.e. getting drinks with your coworkers after work, often basically mandatory) is.

I would assume that she joined the brothel hoping to meet someone she loves, without having to be the one engaging with others. There is more to my reading of her charcter, but that's beyond the scope of this reply.

Serina literally said that she was thinking about quitting in her first appearance! Asumi told her that it would be a really shame so Serina delayed quitting for a while. This was set up like 25 chapters ago hahaha, both her quitting and being unusually attached to Asumi. Not a downgrade at all, rather, a progression of her character arc~

I mean c'mon, Asumi has met so many different women by now we can't expect NONE of them to not start developing feelings for her. And we can see with the latest chapter that Serina is the only one that is actually trying to romance her, everyone else is fond & supportive - it's a good contrast and not at all what you're describing haha

(I get that love triangles are often poorly written and annoying, but those are usually straight triangle which always suck, it's an unfair comparison! And I adore how the relationships in this series have developed. There’s a slow deepening and building of affection overtime that leads to everything from familiarity to a crush to love. It just feels really natural, especially when spread out over so many chapters, and shows the author isn’t afraid of change. You end up with so many really lovely relationships you can just draw on casually, like with Senpai and Nanao here, to really give the feeling of interacting with a community you know. I love how much the manga has expanded beyond the core premise of girl going to brothels, and I feel like that’s carried in the relationships.
