I know people are worried that the series is going to end. Honestly, me too. But it feels like the series is at its peak in popularity (maybe hasn't even hit it's REAL peak yet??) and an anime just got announced. This is like the BEST time to gain new fans and sell more manga. Surely the author won't let this moment go to waste...? Right?

I hope we get to see them while they go to university, maybe move in together at some point, discuss how to manage both of their lives and careers so they can stay together (unlike Joe and Kanna), etc. Imagine an epilogue 10 years later where they're reuniting with their high school friends who they haven't seen for a while, we get the full update on everyone's lives and Mitsuki and Aya are married~

Have they even been reading the comic? Like, 2 weeks ago Joe literally gave his blessing to their union because they were being so obvious about dating now.

So this must be how parents feel when their kids "leave the nest." I feel both happy and sad we might be nearing the end of the manga.

Yeah, me too, but I’m also tremendously worried because I’m almost certain that this manga got its popularity because of its art style. I mean, look at it, don’t you just want to keep consuming it regardless of what story it tells? So special, so stylish, possibly everyone would give it a chance, and it’s already the best of Girl’s Love on multiple manga sites.

And you know what? This kind of stuff is the most difficult if you want it animated, because it has to sacrifice it’s artistic appeal (or its uniqueness) to make it actually feasible.

I mean as an anime they will undoubtedly cut a bunch of filler scenes to make it more entertaining for anime watchers, but it’s still rather worrying. Because I’ve already heard a bunch of people complain that the art is super good but the story is a bit boring and not that spectacular.

Oh, and today I officially saw two chapters of this manga on the “Most Popular of Past 7 Days” of this site at the same time. Congratulations to this manga for the great fame!

What are you talking about? All discussions I see about this series (and on different social media) are about how both the art style AND the story is amazing or wholesome to say the least.

Rather than letting worries consume as in advance let's just wait and see how the adaption is when it comes out. If I remember correctly Arai Sumiko is working with the adaption team, so it could very well be a home run that she worked closely with the team on.

Personally, I'm glad that the series is getting an anime adaptation, because that's a strong indication that it's been a big success with readers and it bodes well for the mangaka's future as a creative person. But while I have no doubt that the anime could very well be successful, I value this primarily as comics. (Granted, given the series' central theme of music, the addition of a soundtrack could benefit this story even more than with many adaptations.)

But it will be interesting to see what might be done with the most distinctive feature of "The Green Yuri"--I have never thought the story would benefit from either full-color or standard B&W. And the trademark treatment of oblique framing and the dense layering of dialogue and figurative elements in the panels have kept me coming back and re-reading this one over and over (it's not uncommon for me to re-read favorite yuri manga, but not often just to look closely at the details of the panels). I like that the pictures don't move in this one, because that means I can spend as much time with them as I want.

And while the pacing of very small installments has kept me yearning for more pages as much as the next person, I think of the resulting narrative dynamic as being an integral part of the overall effect of this very special series.
