I can't man --

I never thought that stealing someone's lip balm can be so be intense and comically evil.

"Batman, do you know what this is?"
"No, Joker, don't do it-"
"Yes Batman, this is a lip balm, and there is no law stopping me from throwing it in this river"
"N-no, don't do it"
"I'm gonna throw it"

The lip balm that broke Wakaba's back

You're telling me. This feels like the school girl BS version of making someone bite the curb

It could be the lowest point in the narrative. Like when in The Dark Knight (2008) Batman fails to save both his childhood friend and Harvey Dent from the Joker's time bomb, which leads to the former getting killed and the latter becoming the villain later known as Two-Face.

Is this Wakaba's Joker moment? Her one bad day?

This isn't changing things much. The timeline is mostly the same. Just the normal, slight updates for a manga version, fleshing things out a bit.

This manga is almost at the same point as the novels (as they are formatted on websites in 4 parts). This is about part 3 of 4. I'm thinking we have 1 more volume. Each manga volume mostly runs parallel with novel volumes (broken into 4 parts).

Yes, we have 4 volumes for light novel. They really lengthen the storyline compared to the web novel with more climaxes and turning points.
Well, with everything going well like this, I think this manga will end with 30 chapters or a bit more.

Based on how long most volumes of the manga have been, I'm thinking more like 25ish, but we'll see how far this volume gets into the story.

GO TO THERAPY

I don't think therapy can fix them.

Maybe they can try relationship therapy. Or married couple therapy.

Also, the lip biting was hot.

Komaki might actually be the most over-the-top, wanna be edgy, actual, no shit, for real textbook definition of "Useless Lesbian" that I think Ive ever seen. She was really bringing the angst this chapter but really, that poor girl doesnt know what shes doing anymore, lol. Wakaba's beyond confused at this point. It would be more funny if it wasn't so sad

Guys, it's me again.
I have found the light novel but it's in Chinese, and when translated through Google it seems quite awkward at characters' name, many paragraphs still using Japanese names but some didn't; instead they use Chinese names, you guys have to find out the correct Japanese names: Ruoye = Wakaba, Xiaomu = Komaki, etc...
If you guys can't stand it anymore, want to see how this toxic relationship progresses further, then here we go: https://www.wenku8.net/novel/3/3585/index.htm

^ You can replace the Chinese translated names with Romanji first, then go to Google translate.

Alright. Loved this chapter. Matsuri recognizing that she wasn't really in the running, as much as wants to be. Wakaba realizing her feelings with Matsuri's help. I enjoy watchful characters like that, especially when they realize they don't have as much of a shot as they'd like. The "you argue so much because you love each other so much" idea seems to always ruffle feathers at least on the western side but I enjoy it and this story is all about that, so I'm eating.

I appreciate how Matsuri is quite clear-eyed regarding Wakaba. I wasn't sure about her for most of the story because it felt like she knew Wakaba's real feelings were towards Komaki, but still tried to take that "special" place. Maybe it's true, but looking back after this chapter, it's clear that she's truly willing to be as close as possible to Wakaba, without being her special one.

Also, making Wakaba confront her feelings directly. Thank goddesses for wingwoman Matsuri.

On some level it seems like she's hoping for Komaki/Wakaba to implode and then for her to be the one there for Wakaba instead. She's not trying to break them up or anything, but she's wanting to push them to resolve the situation one way or another. This is likely why she came off as pushy or calculated at various points, as she wanted them to move past relationship limbo so she could either take her shot or move on as well.

That she's planning to stay friends in the second case is significant, of course. The chapter establishes Matsuri actually is that nice.

Matsuri needs a GF. I think she's already starting to prep "moving on" from Wakaba, maybe keeping a thread intact if Komaki denies Wakaba.

Matsuri is SO sweet. God, to have a handle on your emotions like that and hold back on what you want, just bc you believe the person you care about has something greater they could experience... now that's an example of holding back any darkness inside you to do right by the people you care about. It's HOT!!!

The lip balm thing really soured me on Komaki. I won't say I wish they weren't clearly going to get together quite yet, but I certainly hope there are actual consequences for her. Because if there are none, it'll be really hard for me to accept the relationship.

I feel the same way about the whole lip balm thing. I was starting to like Komaki more and she seemed to be softening up a little and we were getting to see more of more of her actual feelings. But how she acted during that whole lip balm situation felt needlessly cruel and malicious, far beyond what I feel like is forgivable as "someone expressing their feelings poorly". I'd be surprised if they didn't end up together but yeah I'm not feeling that relationship at all anymore.

I know they drew it like it was an act of pure evil, but stealing and destroying the lip balm from an open love rival is far from the worst thing Komaki has done to Wakaba. Komaki believes she's basically been forcing herself on Wakaba for most of this story.

She was attempting to do something unforgivable here, though. We need some dramatic framing for Komaki's last stand, or the last stand of her insecurities at least. I think she saw at as her last ditch effort to make Wakaba hate her before Wakaba pairs up with Matsuri, which Komaki is expecting to happen eventually regardless of what she does. Being more hateable is one thing she's got going over Matsuri, in her mind.
