They say "I hate you" and mean "I love you". I kind of love it

It's sweet yeah and Wakaba is pulling her in for kisses now.

Tbh, I'm struggling when translating this because it pains me to write such stupid lines.

Thank you for your service!

Geeeeeez you can tell the gap is being closed, it’s just like, come on! Just say the words! You’re so close!

I really hope this sticks the landing, I really dig the dynamic.

But they're already saying "I hate you", is there something else they're supposed to say?

This manga deserves the Idiot Couple tag I think.

Yeah I agree

I just can't fathom what's Wakaba's thought process.

I can't fathom Umezono’s thought process— Wakaba is just stuck in the past and ig that’s why she’s nice + the crush she doesn’t know she has on Umezono also gets her to be nice

I just keep forgetting WHY Umezono is dead set on being a jerk and getting Wakaba to hate her when she clearly likes her sooo much

Or maybe it's just bad writing.

Yeah

I just wanna see em do the deed at this point. I feel like I’m consuming slop but I can’t stop stuffing my face…

I hope the story doesn’t drag on longer than needed

Well thanks for your hard work, I’m really enjoying this one.

Honestly, none of the characters come across as appealing as the author seems to intend (or maybe not at all, lol). Wakaba just feels frustratingly dense, and as for Komaki—her actions make it hard to sympathize with her. I can’t say I don’t feel a certain satisfaction seeing her go through the emotional consequences of her choices.

You should have seen this coming since the title was as stupid from the beginning

My guess is that she thinks Wakaba’s straight because she had a crush on a boy before, so if she can’t be her girlfriend she’ll be her most hated because that’s less painful than just being her best friend, and she can still get Wakaba’s attention like this.

Yeah, that's exactly what I enjoy about this series. You're almost compelled to root for Komaki's misery because she actually does suck.

Oh fuck this one hurt so much. That was so perfect. Simultaneously telling Komaki that she was special to her, that they were uniquely close, that she loved her and would have done anything for her, while also calling her her friend, and reminding Komaki of the distance she believed separated them. And god Wakaba saying it in past tense. A relationship that’s so powerful but cannot be mended in that same way… wakaba’s still so good to her it can be hard to remember that komaki’s actions did break something between them. Insanely painful, thank u very much for the food.

And like. Wakaba genuinely believes Komaki hates her. It was so intentional, you don’t betray someone you love like that. She can’t put it together. The pieces just don’t fit together for her and it’s really sad.

ah yes, this disaster thats so enjoyable lol.

I honestly enjoy the drama of it all. It's like a twisted version of watanare tbh.

The friend is definitely definitely trying to slide in there. Those moments were too obvious.

Honestly I like that this manga doesnt try to be more than it is. It's just messy, rude and full of shitty people who are stumbling along and that just makes it more real

I feel like I'm the only one who genuinely enjoys the writing. It's fucking good, delicious food to me. These girls are so messy and self-sabotaging, but they want each other so bad.

I know, right? They're so amazingly awful, it's incredible how much these two idiots deserve each other.

Also Matsuri's still a snake.

I do like it, but I consider it my Yuri junk food. I can't, in all honesty, say it's good, because the writing is pretty bad and messy, but it's bad and messy in a good way (like junk food :p).

That's the thing, I don't see it as bad writing at all. I think the writing is doing exactly what it sets out to do, and that being melodramatic doesn't mean it's poorly written.

This is where I am too. I like this writing style and I don't see writing in this style to be less skillful. It's perfectly valid to prefer a more realistic handling of emotions and consequences, but that was never the goal of the series.

We could even say the same about junk food. It's junk because it's bad for you, not because it's poorly made. Quite a lot of design went into making junk food exactly the way it is: profitably shelf stable, hyperpalatable to induce overreating and by extension more spending, and with nourishment or health as a last priority only relevant for marketing.

Imagine trying to make doritos or cheetos at home. Most skilled home cooks wouldn't have any idea how to do it. The best they could achieve is something dorito or cheeto like after sufficient research and practice.

This writing is incredibly frustrating is what it is. It's obvious that Komaki and Wakana are endgame and we're supposed to root for them, but I really can't bring myself to when Matsuri is right there as an infinitely more appealing option.

Take off the blinders! Matsuri is a closeted yandere! There's always something eery about her involvement with Wakaba. You could argue that she sees Komaki as a harmful influence on Wakaba, but I've always had more the impression that she's super possessive and slyly manipulative.
A good friend wouldn't say that "it's such a waste" thinking about their friends.

I genuinely think there's something creepy about her. Maybe we're wrong, but it wouldn't be a surprise if she showed up covered in blood one chapter is all I can say >_>

I wouldn't say Matsuri is a yandere but she definitely is bland, by the book and boring. Wakaba wants more intense emotion and excitement. She really feels something with Komaki, so I couldn't say Matsuri is a better option for her.

She doesn't even register the "everyday girl, blush blush" stuff Matsuri is sending her way. She wants some spice. Plus, once they get over their current issue, there's nothing to suggest Komaki wouldn't be an amazing GF to Wakaba--she basically already is.

I don't know what's Matsuri's game. She gives a lot of honeyed words to Wakaba, without revealing much of her intentions. It looks like she sounding her out, but for what, it's unknown. It's like she's prepared to make a move, but Komaki is light years ahead of her anyway.

Since Wakaba doesn't even get the blatant affection from Komaki, how could she understand Matsuri's innuendo? Matsuri plainly said "I like you", but Wakaba just didn't take it at face value. Meanwhile, she took the "I hate you" from Komaki at face value.

Wakaba is really dense.

Oh no, I love the writing. I live for this sort of pining and self-sabotaging melodrama in stories.
