More of a general Scanlation question, but what is the difference between a proof reader (at least that's what I guess PR means) and Quality Check/Control (QC)? I noticed this has credits for both, and I always figured proof reading is part of QCing.

Can’t speak for every group but for the ones I’ve worked with PR is checking the translated script before typesetting for typos and/or wording (kind of like an editor) while QC is done after the typesetting step to check that everything looks good (for example that everything that should be cleaned/redrawn was done properly, that the text fits the speech bubble shapes properly, etc)

Yeah, also Muse would have disbanded when Nozomi, Eli, and Nico graduated which was more like a year and a half prior.

As adorable as MakiRiko is, the fact that Maki and Rin used to date but broke up in this timeline makes me so sad, possibly even more than if they never got together at all, even if they’re still very good friends now.

To be serious for a sec I'm guessing you're supposed to still feel Fuyu is sympathetic on the strength of how much cheaters suck, so her behavior is excusable operating under the misapprehension that Itsuki cheated on her, which Itsuki is herself responsible for, but like nah dawg it's not workin for me.

Fuyu went and got married and had a child, but even the thought of Itsuki having a partner while Fuyu wasn’t here counts as cheating? How does that work exactly?

I can't fathom Umezono’s thought process— Wakaba is just stuck in the past and ig that’s why she’s nice + the crush she doesn’t know she has on Umezono also gets her to be nice

I just keep forgetting WHY Umezono is dead set on being a jerk and getting Wakaba to hate her when she clearly likes her sooo much

My guess is that she thinks Wakaba’s straight because she had a crush on a boy before, so if she can’t be her girlfriend she’ll be her most hated because that’s less painful than just being her best friend, and she can still get Wakaba’s attention like this.

I just listened to one on youtube and I can't say "doink" feels like a particularly good representation of the sound.

To give my own two cents on the translation: I can't but associate "doink" as a particulary funny euphemism for sex (I blame Zach Weinersmith) ,so I very much appreciate the sploosh, which alignes pleasingly to the authorial intent.

I wasn't even aware of "doink" being a (somewhat) standard localization for that SFX, but either way I figured the context would be lost with a more literal translation.

Why is blondie not named yet. Ren keeps calling her "this girl." Is she not your friend??

Her name is Itsuki.

Chapter 7 page 3 bottom panel Rei calls out to her with her name before carrying on, on page 4, with asking Itsuki to "come over for a bit".

Chapter 8 page 3 bottom panel, on the phone the post of the toffee apples (?) says "with Itsuki"

[Edit: To be fair Itsuki does say, at Chapter 7 page 4, bottom panel that triggered the whole "sploosh/kapoon" discussion, "It's been a while since she called me by name"]

And to be even more fair that comment was posted shortly before chapter 7 came out haha

I've never seen the shishi-odoshi sound being localized as "doink" before so I'm not sure how standard it really is and how clear it would have been to the readers. I just went for a bath-related sound that could easily be extended with a ー.

Rei's name uses the kanji 麗 which means lovely/beautiful/graceful, Ren is 恋 which means romantic love.

blue: Aoki Rei (Ao, yuk yuk. I mnemonic Re-i-ndigo)
red: Ren
yellow: unnamed so far, far as I can tell.

Yellow girl is Itsuki (not that I think it's really spoilers but yeah her name hasn't been shown yet)
