alright while this isn't 100 percent explicit no way around it evidence, I do think it is pretty fair to say that yes Ruruna is indeed a vampire, and yes she has indeed enthralled Wakana, who as a result of being enthralled has been instilled iwth a deep and almost dangerously high level of love for Ruruna.

So let's just enjoy our dubiously consensual vampiric yuri from hereonout. because I'll be honest I'm not going to harp on it further but it is kind of annoying to see so much discussion on whether or not the core of this story is in fact happening as the story gives us no reason to doubt.

The use of the word 'kin' is throwing me off here. I'm pretty sure they mean 'kine'. If a vampire bites someone and they become kin of that vampire, that implies they are becoming a vampire as well. Kine is an archaic term for livestock that more than one piece of vampire fiction has used as a common term for us bloodbags on the other hand, and here it seems fitting as a specific term for 'enthralled servant/sippy cup'.

The TL does not. The word is 眷属 'family/dependants', but it can also mean 'underling'.

Fair enough. I should have considered it was one of those situations where there wasn't really a word that meant the same thing as in the original language. I imagine the ambiguity between whether she means it as 'family' or 'minion' is important for subtextual reasons.

Is this your first time reading a vampire story or something? Kin is used frequently in this context in loads of stories.

I've seen kinship terms used a lot for actual vampires (e.g. "sire" on Buffy), not for vampires and human bloodbags.

I'm waiting for a plot twist in which Ruruna discovers there's like one extra step, however small, you need to do to enthrall someone. Because she's not that smart, she's basically a side grade to Satania from Gabriel dropout, which is maybe why the dubious consent in this isn't really that glaring. Especially considering she wasn't aware that biting humans (or enslaving them) was a no-no
