All according to keikaku.

Aya was looking for a way to keep Mitsuki from leaving Japan. There it is.

Mitsuki: Uncle... I'm pregnant.
Joe: Whoa! How did THAT happen!?
Mitsuki: It was Oosawa-san... We held hands without gloves on at the prom...

maybe at this point she should start calling her Aya…

Gotta love it when the slow burn finally pays off. Thank you to Kirin-kun for getting the chapters translated into English so quickly for us. Seriously, weekly uploads for 3 years while translating other series too is no joke, even if its just 4 pages.

from their MD page:

I mostly suck at redrawing complex SFX so I often leave them as is. Doing SFX is a fool's errand, I tell you.

I do enjoy reading scanlation and the official translation side by side.

(i also always wonder if the official team gets the files with layers, or if they work off the same material)

Probably depends, with the layers being much more likely now than in the past. I've even seen one author (tmfly, the author of How Do We Relationship) talk about adjusting how she draws word bubbles because of localization feedback, making them less thin and vertical to make it easier to put horizontal text in them, which indicates probably a fairly close and technically involved localization relationship. In contrast, the original Dark Horse releases of Berserk didn't redraw the sound effects or even label them.

Edit: just remembered that the Dark Horse versions of Kurosawa Corpse Delivery Service labeled it's sound effects in a glossery at the back of each book, which is insane. Even worse, they let the editor put political screeds back there, frequently contradicting the author's own politics, like how there's an arc about Japanese war crimes during ww2 that's very critical of Japan and the American editor inserted a rant about how China is bad so the Rape of Nanking was fine actually.

to those of you who have gave up halfway thru out the series, HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM GAY APPLES NOW?!

I dunno how do you expect them to answer since I bet they don't check the comment sections anymore, except idiots like me I guess :P I gave up on reading this right before the prom, so not exactly halfway, but 4 pages at a time finally wore me down and I'm not resuming :P As they say, sometimes it's about the journey, not the destination, and the journey was nonsense for like the last 30 chapters or so

shame on you, b58. but at least you took the time to reply and admitted. :P

Actually, for this series, they redrew a lot of SFX. Not always, but often.

Official don't redraw SFX at all. They just add a small side text.

Scanlators go beyond what official cares to do.

Here's an interview with Brandon Bovia, among other people, who did the lettering on the green yuri (among other things) https://gizmodo.com/being-a-manga-letterer-is-more-than-having-a-fun-job-2000549285

You make it a simpler matter than it actually is. I, as I'm sure many other people too, don't want to see SFX redrawn. They're part of the original art, not just something superimposed. It's over-localization and usually it also results in more of the page being covered up by necessity. Side text is the way to go.

I like the whole “here are the girls in a low-gravity environment” vibe—captures that “floating on clouds of hormones and new experiences” high-school affect.

I'm a fan of the Yen Press house style, where the sound effect is labeled with a transliteration of the sound in Japanese, with English in parenthesis describing what the sound is. Ex "doki doki (heartbeat)". It's educational! :)

for preserving your youthfulness, I can highly recommend: not drinking, not smoking, not having children, and especially: not being poor.

What is We Are Addicted to Her? I looked it up, but I can only find that manhua, Addicted to Her, and a Chinese TV show.

the original is here: 僕らは彼女に依存症

somewhere there's a translation of a third of chapter 1 floating around

Oh okay, I’ll look for that translation, and I’ll be waiting for more too. Arai Suniko makes some good stuff.

Also, this extra reminded me of poor Mao. I was thinking before that Aya had another friend that just vanished, and here she is. I don’t remember the last time she showed up; well, even if she actually showed up more recently than I thought, she’s definitely not as important as Chizuru.
