Damn, I wish it was longer but I actually thought this was good from start to finish. I'll miss this series.

i wouldve liked a little more intimacy from them but frankly i'm happy we even got a kiss with how subdued this series was. easily could've ended without it. but anyway i loved it from start to finish, thanks for translating to the end.

So happy that the author put a relationship chart at the end
Really drives home the development the characters have gone through
Thanks for the upload!!

The little extras make the ending even better after the extra chapter. Love the little glimpses into their dating life.

Thanks for translating this series! Loved it since the first chapter and it's definitely made its way to becoming one of my faves that I'll keep revisiting through the years.

During spring and summer there are frogs croaking in pretty much any pond in Japan, so it's a bit hard to believe Sena has never heard them before.

But yeah, some species of frog can make some rather spooky sounds, so I think I kind of get it.

Omg I'm so happy this finally got all the way translated. The ending made me tear up so much, love love love this manga. Really satisfying seeing Sena being lovey with Kiku and vice versa...

We used to live near an are, which could only be described as a swamp. All the frogs, toads, cicadas, crickets would get LOUD at night. It was like a symphony of creepy crawly things.

It's hard to accept Sena ending up with Kiku after that scene in the cherry blossoms. Overall, Sena x Kiku felt way too sudden. But I liked the pacing up until the last 2 chapters.

I really liked this part

Hmm I don't know. The cherry blossoms scene was very clearly a finalisation of Sena's feelings and a way for her to move forward. They're family and they'll always be family. It's not meant to be romantic. And the Sena x Kiku romance build up was the entire manga. Heck, I'd call this a slow burn with how it's paced.

If 21 chapters of emotional and psychological build-up is "fast" or "sudden" idk anymore.

It was paced very well, how did you miss over 20 chapters of Sena's slow emotional growth?

It was meant to be romantic as well. It seems many don't understand this story (cultural misunderstandings?), which is a shame. This kind of melancholic feeling is deeply rooted in Japanese literature and this specific meeting finalised where all of the main characters stand. There is subtext here I suggest you go back and try to understand.

If 21 chapters of emotional and psychological build-up is "fast" or "sudden" idk anymore.

Maybe they binge shonen most of the time where 20 chapters of powering up doesn't actually change anything.

I have other comments though, "love triangle" is definitely an incorrect tag, the actual relationship doesn't resemble the common tropes for reasons that would spoil the storytelling to relate. If anything it deserves "Aaaaaangst" because that is the primary motivator for both the MC's depression, her sister's actions both past an present, and (though top a lesser degree) the lover's current actions.

Likewise "incest" is a rather extreme reading unless we are counting feelings that were never acted upon. But!, this tag should stay because it's potential serves as an important plot point and due to site rules.
tldr;

Many people here don't seem to have read the story or misunderstood extremely important aspects of it. That's understandable, it has subtleties that might be hard for some to recognize and doesn't fall into major common tropes. I can explain in more detail but spoiling this fragile story is something I'd rather not do.

Finally rereading and finishing this now, and I'm at the halfway mark in chapter 11 right now. And NGL, I'm not sure how I feel about it so far. I normally don't mind these sorts of slow-burn, introspective pieces, but it simultaneously feels like we've gotten past the Yuuna thing way too quickly, in the span of her visit, and also like nothing has happened and Sena's still in the same position she started - depressed and unable to get invested in anything, in a way that's honestly kind of undermining my own level of investment. At least she's attempting to do things, but again, it simultaneously feels like not enough development, but also a rushed and unearned development given what's happened so far. Idk, I'm just not entirely vibing with it so far... but I'll keep going with it, hopefully the back half will feel better to me.

I liked Volume 3 more, it feels like there's some meaningful forward motion happening now - even if what it took to kickstart that didn't quite work for me, I can't complain about the results since then. It feels like there's finally some semblance of actual chemistry happening between Kiku and Sena, lol.

...Chapter 20 confused me. I feel like I missed some vital subtext in that conversation, or else it was just needlessly vague. Also, the groom being brought up also just highlights how much of a nonentity he is lmao. The incest side of all of this just feels kinda underbaked and unexplored despite how central it is to the story, and it feels weirdly inconclusive that Sena's feelings towards Yuuna still haven't been properly discussed, even if she's more-or-less moved on by now?

I'm a weirdo who likes incest and thinks the taboo is overblown, but the story has managed to convince me pretty well that even if it weren't for her marriage and apparent straightness, Yuuna is genuinely not a good option for Sena just on a personality level, and Kiku is the right woman for her. But at the same time, I just wish this side of things was explored better, because it feels like whenever Yuuna shows up, the writing dances around any sort of serious meaningful confrontation of what's between them, and then carries on as if some big shift has occurred anyway. The first time was one thing, but now it's twice that it's happened, and it's kinda driving me up the wall.

Maybe I'm just stupid and not getting the subtext; but in comparison to the whole extended flashback sequence and serious discussion of Yuuna and Kiku's short-lived relationship, or literally everything between Kiku and Sena, there is a precedent for a more upfront sort of discussion that keeps getting glossed over between the sisters. I'm cool with the story not ending in incest, that was pretty apparent from the start; I just wish the author wouldn't keep shying away from it if it's going to be included as such a major factor in the first place.

Well, I finished it now. Despite all my complaining, I did genuinely like this for the most part, and it definitely feels like it was worth it to come back to. Sena and Kiku didn't have a super intense dramatized relationship despite the premise, and it definitely took some time for it to feel like there was a relationship at all, but I like where it wound up, and the journey to get there felt pretty satisfying on the whole? I just wish the bits with Yuuna held more weight or weren't so... vague, I guess, given her supposed importance to the narrative and both of the leads. This was solid on the whole... it's just not one I think I'm gonna remember too strongly.
