Even if she gets along with someone well enough to do that task do they even know how much it hurts to be reminded of such circumstance??? Goddamn it’s so mean, so brutal, heartless. Authorities in this school should burn in hell.

On one hand, this school would have long been sued out of existence.

It is certainly insensitive, but I think that in the specific case of Nanase, someone must have decided that a hard shove is what she needs to change her perspective. Yes, she does not have any relatives, and that sucks ass. But on the other hand, she has, at the present moment, multiple opportunities around her to create a life where she is not alone anymore, and she does not seize those opportunities because of the bad fortune she had experienced in the past. Nothing she does will give her her biological family back, but she can still find a new place for her to belong, if she reaches out to others. The assignment is mean, but it may prove to be the bitter medicine she needs.

Let's see how Hanako blunders into success.

That medicine is way too bitter it became bullying at this point. It's like strict Asian parents method on raising kids. Take it further one more step, cross the line then it's basically abusing children.
With that being said I'm leaning toward "someone swapped Hanako's and Nanase's role" theory. The school still sucks ofc, but at least it would be less brutal than whatever is happening rn.

Each chapter makes it harder and harder to justify how awful this school system is. "You'll understand when your older" is a good way to put it off until the author thinks of a good reason for it.

Bold of you to assume these orphans even have the money to pay for a 'good' lawyer...and even if they got a few thousand dollars/yens to spare, it would still takes months of constant court ruling battles about evidence and etc...Yeah the joys of court cases and suing issues...Sometimes you might get lucky and it only take 1 month at most but often cases with the law or court stuff can takes months to even a year to finish...in which case the side that has more money can drag it out to make the other side bleed more money during the process (Mental stress) XD

Best case scenario at getting the school to be shut down would be if one of them gathered video and audio evidence of the stuff going on in the school (Assuming there are enough insane stuff going on to see) before getting kicked out of school [Assuming the rumors of being kicked out if failing task is true] due to failing a task then revealing it to the world to cause enough people to be outrage for enough 'support'.

The school is not giving you the role you want, but the role you need. That's all.
