This reminds me of "Anemone heart" from the Umi/Kotori duo single,
I have no idea why.

You know Superman is going to defeat Mxyzptlk, but the story of how can still be fun.

It's fun because you know there's no real threat. That's the point of it, normally. As long as people understand that, than it's just a "cute situation," that you can read casually, watching as it forces our main two into funny situations. The acceptance of that dynamic might be different for different audiences, I guess. Personally, I just want there to be variety, since normally the in-between stuff plays out the same. The idea of it is fine though.

Oooooo an interloper! Okay, prediction time:

I'm guessinggggg, she's someone from the same middle school as Nagisa who admired her for being the serious model student and stuff. But now Nagisa looks all flashy, so the First year thinks it's Mashiro's bad influence leading Nagisa astray and tries to "pull her back to the right path". Or smth along those lines~

Not even just her looking flashy, but also not making it into her chosen much higher ranked school. Amusingly enough, technically Mashiro actually is the cause for this, but certainly not in the way new girl thinks.

Took this long for a yuri manga to introduce a “love rival,” we should be proud of that lol

The flashbacks reminded me of Mashiro's illness. What ... happened to that? Like, I don't need death flags or hospital visits or anything, just some indication that she's still a somewhat sickly person instead of being like "she had a bit of time off school and now she's in perfect health and we'll never speak of this again".

During the chapter when Nagisa had the flu, Mashiro was prevented from even a quick sick visit because of the risk of her catching it with her condition. She's also been shown to have separate PE lessons, where she does more low-impact activities, presumably as part of some doctor-prescribed physical therapy routine.

I'll grant it's not much, but at least it's something, lol. Her condition has always been kind of vague and ill defined.

I think it was mentioned that her condition has improved since Nagisa has started helping her. She still needs to take extra precautions, but she’s capable of doing regular things without randomly fainting. Her condition has definitely been pushed pretty far into the background though, and it didn’t help that Mashiro has not been the focus of the story for the past couple volumes.

Hopefully with the appearance of a love rival, the plot will be pushed to a climax and will help this manga be adapted into an anime. This series was not even nominated in the "Manga We Want To See Animated Ranking 2024" vote last time.
By the way, where did everyone nominate the manga series for that vote? I heard that in December there is a round for people to nominate manga series to be included in the voting list, so I wanted to ask in advance to nominate this series next year.

She's anemic. They basically outlined it before. It's not really a 'you die' condition but it does make her weaker than most

lol honestly considering also how horny mashiro has been lately i also thought she was making a pass at her. overall, super cute though and feels like its to parallel them helping the new girl find a girlfriend. this manga always cuts through the drama quick so i doubt itll get elongated since nagisa is a straight cutter.

Aaaaaaand we're back to the regularly scheduled NagiMashi (or is it MashiNagi...?) sweetness.

Wonder what kinds of hijinks will ensue now!

Well I hope the new girl doesn't continue to mess with our lovely couple, she's so far planted some unfortunate seeds of turmoil that I imagine will be frustrating to do deal with in coming chapters. Plus her entire personality is extremely obnoxious, attacking someone's girlfriend because you think their girlfriend is dragging down their academics is insane behavior. I think we need a catapult to launch her far away from them heh

Wow, the new girl is coming in really hot. Very odd choice to reintroduce yourself to someone you respect by insulting them directly to their face. It's also kinda wild that she knew which school Nagisa went to, chose to go to a different school, and then gets mad as Nagisa for not being in the same school. Like if you really wanted to go to school with her, you could have just...went to her school?

The scene at the end with Nagisa reassuring Mashiro was so sweet. Also shoving Mashiro's face into her chest in front of the new girl was a total power move, lmao. Hopefully Mashiro follows her own advice about telling her feelings, but somehow I get the sense she won't.

“Then prove to me that you weren’t lying about studying even now.”

The correct response: “Bitch, I don’t need to prove a goddamn thing to you. Go find someone else to stalk before I call the cops, and don’t you ever come near me or my girlfriend ever again.”

On a lighter note, that Sebas callout was brutal. Didn’t need to do him that dirty.

This is some next level shit, Nagisa doesn't even know that glasses NPC. I don't even think we ever got a scene with Nagisa's parent being sad or angry about her HS, that alone makes the glasses NPC's overreaction so revolting to look at.
This is some moustache twirling villain level of dumb characterization, except this is just infuriating with no payoff in sight.
We already got a arc with Mashiro feeling guilty that Nagisa couldn't got to her choice of HS because of her, and Nagisa coming to terms with her current situation and now working towards a better Uni. Why even have this tangent?

This is ESPECIALLY the part that gets me, we already went through this and had story + character progression due to communication between them. The fact that there are new seeds of doubt planted about this by a random shitty person that approaches them on the street, it's genuinely baffling to me. I love this series, but I hope we move through this quickly because it's already an irritating direction for the story

I wouldn’t call this a retread, Nagisa has long accepted her situation and found a relationship with Mashiro as a result of that, she’s secure and content with how things ended up accepted if. This is exploring Mashiro’s side this fine and dealing with old feelings of guilt that she never fully got over and will probably let her own thoughts and self doubt eat her up over time when dealing with random glasses girl

I thought they both dealt with this issue together, but maybe I'm remembering wrong. Regardless I think this could have been brought up in a better way in the story, as this new character feels ridiculous.

On the one hand... yeah that might've been a bit too much...
But on the other hand, that Sebas page was just the comic relief I needed after glasses-bitch's rant and threatening glare.

Looks like I was right about that girl's thoughts. She did manage to shake up Mashiro a lot with that, though. Even with Nagisa doing her best, there still seem to be some lingering thoughts to take care of. Knowing this series, won't take long, though.

And dammit, sebas123, it's like the second coming of suiton... o_O

“Then prove to me that you weren’t lying about studying even now.”

Why am I thinking about another pointless arc like the one in Kase-san that wrapped up recently, where Kase had to compete against a classmate to, by some eldritch logic, earn the right to live with her girlfriend of many years?
