Shion, despite being written as a somewhat clumsy minded character who has a Melissa complex, is super smart. How was she able to create a golem with such emotions? It's crazy how human-like Rehm is; to be specific her mentality. Like Rehm is starting to become her own person, love that for her.

I may be misunderstanding this, but she's not a Lolicon meaning she has a young girl complex. She's a genuine villainess - as, apparently, are all successful witches - who's being defrosted by a sweet younger witch. The whole witch system seems pretty bad, anyway. Younger girls are just easier to use and abandon, is all.

Trying to comprehend this series. are Melissa and Tanya rediscovering love or something? It's as if witch culture is all about womanising by the numbers and it's lost its potency. It also strikes me that their culture is pretty high-schoolish.

The theme reminds me of a fan fiction by "siniscule" called "Legerdemain" which was taken down, unfortunately. Nozomi would be Nico's "Master," already through the "Gate," and Maki is Nico's "Tanya."

Since it's not on the net anymore, it can't hurt to say in the end it wasn't happy, per se. The conceit was that if certain conditions of their marriage were met, going through the Gate wasn't optional.

Nico went through the equivalent of the Gate to be with Nozomi, even though Maki had won her heart. Meanwhile, Maki picked up Rin as her Tanya.

That line about their bond breaking makes me think the last trial will require them to break up (maybe splitting the bond they've built will release a ton of energy like splitting an atom?) but Melissa will choose Tanya over the power

Then something like "refusing the power is the real way to earn it" or "the real power is the bond we made along the way"
