What's important is there was consentual letter-purloining.

Classic not knowing what to call the feeling and still just being friends. That poison and rust analogy though. Got to love that. Must be why Sawara randomly got the soda. Neat synthesis of ideas with Sawara feeling love was a poison while Ayako felt that far from rusting her heart, love made her feel more alive.

I haven't read a oneshot like this for eons it was so good. I have a fascination with characters where they lose their sense of reason or reasoning is secondary to what they feel towards the person they like, kinda like Tsubaki from school zone.

And then this boy came along with a crush on her, right? And it turned out her "friend" was so jealous she had to steal and shred all his love letters to keep him away from her. And finding out, MC was like "OH! She REALLY CARES!" and knew this was who and what she really wanted.

I've read this before (probably in Japanese), what does it come from?

As I understood the other girl understands she is in love with MC. She just doesn't tell MC about it openly. Meanwhile MC, being not the most insightful person goes on about being "friends" and not understanding the feeling.
