I wish this was a series about their glorious romance and relationship. The art is also very soft yet not cloying; noice.

SAD, y’all are truly the best, the little details of this translation add so much. It’s lovely.

The only thing I don't like about this is that it's a one-shot. Their personalities and the little bits of banter really clicked for me.

@ 856600 Characters dont have to talk sterile just because they dont have an accent. the vast majoirty of characteres in writing (manga or otherwise) dont have accents.

If you think about it, ALL people talk with an accent- yet we dont try to subtley alter spelling to portray this- so its clear we dont have to do it. But im not saying it SHOULDNT be done- especially if a character is meant to have a notably different accent to those around them. But it shouldnt be taken too far as to slow down reading and comprehension and pull the reader out of their immersion.

Also, as a none american seeing the american accent where I know it is artifical and not actualy soundling like the accent being emulated, it really sticks out- the same for scotish too. What accent was the character meant to have in this story? Is it kansai? Its just there are certain sounds and emphasis that can convey that too, right? If you know the accent.

Im sure its hard to do any accent translation well- and it is done pretty well in this story but as I said, i still have mixed feelings about it

p.s Space cadet is 100% of american origin and usage. ive only ever seen it used in american media and never in real life - at least in the UK. There are a few other american terms used too. They stand out more to none americans.

In page 26, Ueno changes into her normal clothes and she's wearing pants no matter how I look at it.

In page 27, the pants suddenly transformed into a long skirt?

Either it's a slight continuity mistake by Ohsawa Yayoi-sensei or I'm missing something.

In my head, this kinda accent IS kansai-ben.

I honestly like how in translations, this kinda stuff has been "canonized". Not being from the US, this kinda accent just reads to me like "casual and rural-like", so I don't really associate it with any given state or location haha it works perfectly, it's just neutral like that.

Btw I DEFINITELY need more of this

Actually.. these aren't just 'mericanisms but ones that ONLY show up in old media or something to emulate the past [golden era of the idyllic 'merka.. think 1950s] or it's regional? like the east coast? So even to someone from the Us west coast "space cadet" and "cup of joe" stick out as something that was meant to portray a specific color.. not sure what it is though other than setting it back 50+ years...

"Cup of joe" is definitely not uncommon in the Midwest, even among millennials. Speaking from experience.

Ohsawa Yayoi is probably my favourite yuri author, all of her one shots are amazing and Hello Melancholic is probably my favourite yuri series. Shame it was cancelled but I’d love to see a full series of this!

This is fantastic! I absolutely love the interaction between the two. The complete cluelessness of Sasaki combined with the thirst of Ueno is pure yuri gold!
