The pay for gay wave has even infected the OL manga

If this doesn't turn out to be yuri I will put fire inside of my mouth. Counting on you.

The 2020’s so far have been the decade for lesbian sex worker manga. I don’t know what the hell is happening to cause this, but we have had sooooooo many new series and one shots centered on sex work in the last year and a half.

This is starting to get really niche, I don’t think I ever could have predicted that this manga would be about photoshopping sex workers profile pictures to look more attractive…

One thing that did irk me is how she just accepted the job without asking about the pay, benefits, or hours, which were all things she was stressing about before. Hopefully they don’t just forget about that lmao. First chapter didn’t really grab me but I’m definitely willing to give the series a shot based on the premise alone.

There really seems to be an overabundance of pay for gay yuri manga lately huh. Not that I mind but I'm curious as to what sparked this current trend.

The top customer seems a bit sus and I'm betting that she's the one that caused the previous worker to quit.

I'm guessing that the translation is off calling Sayu their "best customer." I'm thinking she's instead their best SW/"cast member"/whatever? It wouldn't make any sense for a single person to spend enough money to keep a 2-storefront 60 person brothel running, nor for such a person to be brought into the back offices regularly for any reason, nor for them to be making any requests of the staffer who photoshops pics...

Errr the translation is a bit off, Tachibana Sayu is their top worker at the brothel, she got the top customer rate, not top customer

Is Pay for Gay going to be like the Sports or Moe-blob genre, where the tag is just a front for increasingly niche subject areas the author is interested in?

Another manga about prostitution. Like many of us, the first chapter did not hook me. Unless I'm mistaken, they didn't talk about gay prostitution. The girls in this agency are either bi or straight. I think the top girl is at least bi or there would be no yuri.
I think the old man is either her personal manager, a family member or he is grooming her to take the company. I don't think there will be any explicit yuri. It will juste be two women who get along together but no love.
I wish I'm mistaken but after this first chapter it feels like they add the yuri at the last minute.

Yuri is whatever but they got a really interesting concept here with many comedic possibilities. I can dig it even if there is no romance. Also the phrase "You are hired" is both so soothing and nerve-wrecking at the same time.

Interesting first chapter, don't see the yuri yet but I am also curious as to why the last person left since it was mentioned a few times.

Idk, was it too many pay for gay manga with prostitution tag that've been read so far, which made me little bored with this chapter, it wasn't bad tho but not good either.

Im curious of what this will turn out...

They sure did gloss over the salary and other crucial job details. I was gonna try to not get too bothered by it since its manga and not a irl job interview but she even brought it up at the end.

It's because of the mass entry of women into the Japanese work force. Prostitution fantasies are basically about no-strings sexual attraction and/or find that perfect mate (prostitute with heart of gold trope). Throw in the fact that sex work and lesbianism are still considered to be the exclusive realm of social outcasts and outsiders (and therefore complementary), plus the novelty of the greater freedom that comes from not being tied to one's home/spouse/relatives thanks to gainful employment, the undesirability of most male coworkers due to their unreconstructed attitudes about gender roles and sexual entitlement, and the fact that Covid-19 lockdowns have disrupted Japan's part-time work culture (forcing some women to take up sex work to compensate for extended unemployment), and there you have it.
