What does "pretty white company" mean?

A "white" company is one that places the happiness of its employees in high regard, contrasted with "black" companies that don't give a shit how you feel - do your job without question or get out and make room for someone who will.

Is that what it means? I thought in context it meant they were relatively new and don't have much of a reputation yet.

That's the definition I found from a Google search on the subject. I'd never heard of the phrase before, so it's possible it means something else that didn't come up quickly. "Pretty white company" only returned 5 not-so-useful results.

You certainly see the term "black company" used often in animango for heartless slave-driver outfits, so... contrast.

Man. I forget how fucked up it is how in Japan, you're basically not allowed to have a public romance if you wanna be an actress or singer.

The backstory seems pretty fucking cringe to me. Instead of holding the managerial staff to a standard of behavior and telling them to knock it off (or reporting them to HR), she degraded herself so she could be seen more easily? That's a big ol' nope from me.

Yeah... This is a pretty messed up way to be inclusive to little people/people with dwarfism. It's quite infantilizing.

It is fucked up, let me start by stating that. My question though is, is it done to "protect" the talent? Since some people will lose their minds if a celeb is in a relationship. Even if it is protecting I think it's misguided, since it's essentially enabling the problem by backing down to people being annoying creeps about the celebs they worship.

Unfortunately I know in the West as well that celebs get constantly harassed, especially online. I remember hearing with the (CW/DC) Arrow show that people were/are taking to social media to replace the lead actor's wife in photos with a character from the show. Things like that. It's so unbelievably creepy and bizarre.

Sakuma: praises the sun first thing in the morning
Me: Ah, I see you are a woman of culture, as well.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that thought that.

Sasameki Koto is a classic and all but I think I actually like this series better. All the sharp observations of relationships and slice of life comf, much less of the over-the-top Rumiko Takihashi slapstick / misunderstanding vibes.

Sasameki Koto was torture for me. I actually dropped it about 20 chapters in because I thought nothing would ever happen. I'm glad I thought of it again after it had finished and looked it up, but I couldn't have handled reading the thing as it was released.

Is that Welsh Brew or actual Welsh tea? (Note: Before today, I had no idea that either of these things existed. Once again, manga has expanded my horizons.)
